Looking around I don't see too many of these for sale? It looks like they are still available from Sidepot @ $1.09/chip. I have a 1,725 chip set I might look to sell to start a custom CPC tournament set. I was thinking about $.70/chip? Is that about right? Thanks in advance!

That might be a decent starting point. The problem is, I think sidepot has them overpriced, so working off that price is tricky.
They're used Chipcos, right? Something like 50 cents each is probably a more realistic price, but no harm in starting at .70 and seeing what happens.

Someome local to me has been trying to sell a cash set of Archetypes for a while now and his last few CL ads have them going for about a third of orginal cost.

I agree with @upNdown that you'll probably see 50c a chip and that may even take a while to get.

There are 2 big group buys going on right now for (IMO) much better designed ceramic hybrids that will cost less than 70c per chip. On top of that, new custom ceramics can be bought starting at 77c per chip.

All these factors combined make used ceramics that aren't really special pretty hard to sell at anywhere close to what you probably paid for them.

Depends on the condition. I personnaly love the Archetype chips, but have become a bit spoiled over the last couple of years.

If in good condition, I recommend auctioning them (here or on feebay) with a .70 starting bid (or maybe .60). You might also consider breaking them up into smaller sets to be more affordable (in total) to chippers looking for good chips at a non Paulson or TRK price. Paying $1200 for a set of ceramics might be a bit tough to digest IMHO.

Good luck!!

In my opinion, the price to make them move will likely be a decent bit lower than $0.70. @Psypher1000 unloaded a bunch of uncirculated casino Chipcos in the $0.25-$0.30 range, and these were pristine. I've also tried to unload a bunch of casino Chipcos, even dropping well into the $0.20 range and had no takers. With other cool ceramic hybrid options out there right now, the market is a little depressed for ceramics. Beautiful chips though. They've been popping up a lot on CL lately. GLWS!

YIKKKEEESSS!!!:eek::confused:

I think I'm going to use my Chipcos for doorsteps if I ever decide to get rid of them:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Many of the other users have already some of the same comments I would have. Besides those points, however, is the fact that you can get fully customized ceramics from GOCC for not much more than 70c/chip, shipped, at the quantities you're talking about. The blanks that GOCC uses are incredibly high quality, and their print quality is arguably better these days. So, the question becomes would I rather pay ~$1250 for 1700 (73.5c ea) used, stock-design chips, or ~$1500 for 2000 (75c ea) new, fully custom chips and the breakdown of my choosing?

I do like the Archetype design, but even if new, when compared to the possibility of GOCC customs I don't like the Archetypes until they're at about 50-55c ea, and obviously a portion less if used.

I agree. I think .50 is the max you'll get out of them and that is only if you find the right buyer, someone that needs them. A friend has a bunch he wants to sell. I told him he would be lucky to get .40 per chip. When I told him this he changed his mind.

Chipco ceramics (customs or otherwise) typically sold for $1+ per chip when the company was still in business......and I thought they were overpriced then. Used Chipco prices were usually around 75c each, but the chip market - particularly ceramics - has changed a lot since then.

However, I'd feel fortunate to get 50c for 'em today. Best bet is to auction off multiple smaller sets with a starting bid of 35c-40c per chip, and target new chippers looking to get a quality product at budget prices.
