I have been looking at buying a new set of chips and have seen Veneratis. I love them but I have been trouble finding them online. I see they are offered on buypokerchips, but u have also seen posts saying they have poor quality. Does anyone know where I can buy a higher quality set of these?

I didn't think those were made or sold any more. Weren't they originally Sidepot?
Yes they were. And they were a nice quality ceramic. I might still have a sample set somewhere.
But we've seen knockoffs over the years, even before the rise in popularity of chinese ceramics.
So the only answer is probably good luck?
If I wanted Veneratis, I'd probably only buy them from a PCFer who actually bought them from Sidepot back in the day. Otherwise, who knows what you're buying?

@Marc Hedrick has a set. They are very nice. They were a present from his wife. It is unlikely that he will sell them. Maybe he could post some pictures of them!

Not sure how this could help, but these are veneratis from side pot. I still like them quite a bit. It’s funny, if they didn’t have a boring gray quarter, I might have bought these long long ago and never looked back at clays.

Apparently Sidepot is once again selling chips. The Archetype and Venerati ceramic lines are currently listed for sale on buypokerchips.com.

But I wouldn't expect either to match up with the previously sold chips.

Ha. Well that makes things interesting. The archetypes were on Chipco blanks - extremely unlikely that they are selling Chipcos today.

Order samples I guess?

Yep, and at 59c/chip, I doubt the Venerati's are being made by Sunfly.

Getting samples of each seems prudent.

Hard to say. Sidepot probably still 'owns' it, but unlikely that Stephan has actual possession. It's either still with the Endy's, or residing in storage at GPI somewhere with the rest of the molds that BCC transferred.

I almost bought what looks like a clone of that set called Classic ceramics from The Poker Store. I don't know the design history like others here but it's a $0.40 option. Assuming they use the same ceramics for their Turbo ceramic chips I can say it's pretty good quality for the price. My set goes through heavy use once a week for almost a year now. About 1000 chips in play each session so I have a decent sample size to examine. 11 have a small chip on the edge and one broke in half (probably a defect, this happened about 1 month in). I like that they have stock so you can easily replace or add on if you need to.

I certainly wouldn't call that "pretty good quality"; in fact, quite the contrary.

High-end ceramics typically don't chip or break in half.... those are traits of low-quality chips.

I'm particularly fond of the unique edge designs.. LOL as I designed them, check out my epiphany thread i just posted and rejoined recently.

Well, it's a $0.40 chip so I thought of it as less than $5 to replace one year of 12+ hour weekly use damage if any blemish is unacceptable, but really only one chip needs to be replaced. The only other ceramics I've used so far are tikis and nile club which I've seen with similar damage, not sure if it occurred at the same rate or if any broke.

Perhaps more context would be useful. The heavy use I refer to is with drunks who toss chips in, slam chips onto other chips, and tapping chips on other chips to check or just make a sound for their own entertainment. Basically, my chips take a beating that would probably make the more expensive chip owners here cry. I'm honestly surprised only one of mine has split in half. I guess the more precise statement would be that I'm satisfied with the durability relative to the low replacement cost as opposed to an all encompassing evaluation of "quality."

Fwiw, the Nile Club ceramics are rated as one of the worst, so no surprise you equate the Turbo chips as similar 'quality'.

Any decent ceramic chip will typically withstand heavy play (even with apes) with zero-to-minimal damage. But experiencing 10%+ with edge chipping is indicative of low quality materials..... and overpriced at even 40c/chip.

Purchased from sidepot four years ago. Perfect for our tournaments.

The tikis are brpro though and those have damage, timeframe unknown but still got damaged. I've seen majestics, milanos, and kings casino slugged clays shatter with similar treatment.

It's less than 1%, I regularly have over 1000 in play out of the 1500 set. 10% would be awful and I wouldn't even bother figuring out the replacement cost or say it's acceptable.

Attached pics so everyone can make their own call. This is ok for me, I'll spend the $5 per year to replace this if I have to.
