So I'm going to have a bank of SIX drawers!!!! At 1800 chips per drawer, I can fit 10,800 chips! Woot! The wife will be happy, I'm sure.

Does this show all the cans that were installed? I thought I saw 2 rows of 3 in the TV/Poker area.
Agreed. I thought I might of had too many, but after I tested the lights with the bulbs I ended up using and the dimmers, it actually was the perfect amount of light for each room. Having 3 zones in the TV room helped a lot too. I did a lot of research on recessed light placement. I must of moved the cans 3 or 4 times when I was laying them out. LOL

When my parents built their last house they did all the wiring and they certainly went with the more is better idea like you two lol. I remember my room for example had 27 recepticles in it if you counted the lights, switches, outlets, surround sound hookups, etc.

Yeah they got a little carried away lol. There were 2 fluorescent lights in my closet, 5 can lights around the outer edges and leading into the walk in bathroom, a light in the center of the room with a fan. A switch to turn the flood lights on for the east side of the house, plus a ton of outlets and cable/surround sound receptacles. Doing all the electric in their house would have cost them a fortune if they would have had to pay someone. Luckily my dads best friends is a master electrician and my brother in law is an electrician too. When I sell my current house and build someday I'll be all set with people to help do the electric lol

Recent neighborhood ladies' night on Friday:
I'm hosting a ChipTalk meetup next weekend... Mad-town Throwdown (MTTD)
Hosted a test-run event this weekend (Saturday). Essentially the same as the MTTD ME tournament with 14 guys, same blind structure (with half the buyin fee), worked very well... Everyone had a blast, I donked myself out of the tournament in 4th place (when I had at least 3rd place completely locked up)... However, I did well in the cash games after. Had a blast. Now I really can't wait for next weekend.
Here's a picture from the action this weekend after the final table was established (notice the cash games in the background):
One of my buddies came over before the tourney to help with some electrical... He spent like 2 hours running electrical outlets for my game room neons... No more ugly cords hanging down to the floor level outlets. Huge shout out to Frank!!! I don't feel so bad, as he shipped the $30 tourney... for $200, and won $180 on a $20 cash buy in... The night's big winner! Karma for his helping make my neons pop! Getting this done before the MTTD was a huge priority for me!

I can't wait to have that game! I'm going to get something together in the later half of next year. I still have to hook up the plumbing for the bathroom and wetbar. The hardest part is running the vent to the roof.
I'm going to use the same wall cavity that my main vent is in. All the water and drain lines are right on the other side of the wall (which are still open in the laundry room) so that will make it easy. It's about 4 day job or 2 weekends for me.

For those who played the MTTD Thursday night cash game, you'll recognize this amazing table. Links graciously allowed it to migrate to my game room, as a second/third table to use for tourneys, and at the MTTD 2. Now if only I could get him to give me his chairs...

GAME ROOM UPDATE:
Well, I've made some changes to my setup. First, my larger table required setup/takedown each time I'd host (maybe monthly). I created a nice overhead rack system in my storage room, but then I'd have to elicit help from attendees to show up early/stay late to setup (about 5 minutes). More often than not, we'd wind up leaving the table up after each game, and it'd take a couple weeks before I'd get someone over to help out. To setup my table, it also required me to move my large curvy couch, so it made TV/movie watching less comfortable. In short, this caused disruption to our rec room.
The solution was to move my smaller pub table (with poker table top) to a different room upstairs, and replace it with my larger table on permanent display. I really liked having the pub/poker table in the rec room (it just seemed to fit), but the inconvenience of setting up my larger table has trumped. It will be nice to host cards without having extra setup considerations/hassles. Hosting two table events will still require my workout room and setting up a second table.
On that note, I made a couple reductions to my setup with a couple items that didn't work for the space. I got rid of an amazing "Lite Volleyball" neon sign, and the table I received from Links. Neither really worked in the space. I'm also considering reducing the chip heard some to made room for my upcoming CPS order. My wife has started to lay down the law regarding poker's influence in our household. My large table being up for a couple weeks each time I host (getting in the way), too many chips, the extra stored table interfering with her access to the storage room, etc... Happy wife, happy life... I'm not sure she'll ever be "happy" about anything poker related (unless it all went away), but I can try to make her less unhappy
My wife has been "coaxing" me to get rid of a number of chairs I have accumulated. I have 10 Richardson black vinyl restaurant chairs (seen below), and we have 12 black "Sam's" chairs that are similar to the Richardsons, albeit not as well made. This coaxing has inhibited my ability to actively look for nicer chairs. However, now that the larger table is on full display, it might work to my advantage to get some classier looking (more comfy) chairs for my main table, and keep the Richardsons for any 2nd table games I host... Then offload the Sam's chairs?
I did get a chance to finally install my 6th chip storage drawer (which required me to re-work a couple of the other drawers to make it fit). I will still use a drawer or two for cards and accessories, but will likely have 4 solid drawers of chips now (that's after factoring the chips I'm looking get rid of).

I really struggled with the concept of a second table in residence. In the past, I've always borrowed a good friend's table (that I helped him make at the same time I made my current table - so they're matching). I was very optimistic Links' table would solve my problems. It's a tad smaller, so I was hopeful it'd fit better in my storage room. However, the smaller aspect made it less optimal for 10 people. To make matters worse, Links did such a great job of building it beefy (with two full pieces of 3/4" ply), that it made the table crazy heavy (wife n.o.t. happy). Ha!
Just today, my wife started verbalizing plans for the overhead poker table storage rack I made. I explained I was hoping that this might be used for a second table down the road, and she explained that I should continue to "borrow" a table as I've done in the past... Hmmrph! I hate borrowing a table each time I host a major event.

Though Mrs Trihonda is not a poker fan, she actually enjoyed the MTTD event (and the attendees). I think she was a tad apprehensive before-hand (not knowing what to expect), but once things got rolling, she was totally cool with it. She didn't even balk when the idea of an MTTD 2 was introduced by Albino Dragon at the end of last year's event.
I think secretly, she's looking forward to it...

. Looking at all your pictures how much would you charge to build some of those little "mini" poker tables? With slid under cup holders they'd be perfect side tables instead of my TV tray sidetables.
I can vouch for the quality. Honda's side tables are outstanding.

I initially brought a few with me down to the 2013 WCB and sold them for $150 each. I found a decent CL deal for restaurant quality bistro tables (with solid cast spiders-the part that attaches the top to the base). These themselves would sell for $200+ new. I "pokerized" them by adding identical finishes that would be found on a full size table.
I kept a couple to use as side tables in my game room, and then sold the rest to Bullseye Games (local high end games shop that deals in pool tables, darts, foosball, etc...). I sold 3-4 of them to Bullseye for $175 each, and they were planning to resell them for $300. Bullseye wanted me to pump out a bunch more of these, but to be honest, it was not worth my time. It took me on average 4 hours each (working them in an assembly line), and cost me around $75-100 each in materials alone. Future tables would be dependent on finding the right CL score, and I have a FT job already. It wasn't worth my time. However, that said I've always been willing to help out a friend for free.
Advice: Those side tables are each 26" around, and would NOT make great drink tables. They are too big to be practical. The padded rail takes up more space than would be practical for a drink table. My suggestion would be to use those wooden TV trays that can be had super cheap on CL (between $10-20 for a set of 4). Add padded foam/SSC and then insert cup holders into them. Perfect! You can check them out in some of the earlier pics.
I've had many requests to build more of them and set up shop... ha! Not willing to do that for the general public, but I might be convinced to do up a bunch for the MTTD 2 and sell them off for my cost after the event? I'm guessing my cost per unit would be... (thinking out loud) Hmmmm? jumbo cup holders $5 each (x2), TV trays $5 each, SSC and padding maybe $10 per table? I'm guessing I'd be at around $30 each table, not including time to drive around picking up TV trays off CL and my time (which I'd donate).
I'm going to post a better picture of these TV trays (I did some in burgundy and some in black SSC).
As seen in the second pic, both beams were done identical. Secured with wing nuts/carriage bolts. I only need to drop one beam down, slide the table over one beam, then raise the other beam underneath.

Ha! The arrangement we had from the start was that anything behind the red couch was mine to do with as I pleased (within reason), and the rest was a family rec. room (movies, wii, etc...). However, it's never a good idea to push the envelope with your spouse...
