What are everyone's favorite cards? (3 Viewers)

Desjgn, Faded Spade, Broken Arrow, Fournier, Modiano Platinum, Angel and Cartamundi made in Belgium

As plastic playing cards are more budget friendly than poker chips, I've grabbed multiple setups already before getting my second set of chips.

So far I've tried:

Faded Spade 3.0
Las Vegas cards (from a vendor on PCF)
Copags
Lot Fancy
and KEMs from the casino

I prefer Faded spade as I think they're the easiest to handle when shuffling, however I enjoy pitching the Las Vegas the most as the different surface texture makes them glide easier on most felts.

Hoping to try Desjn soon and maybe some broken arrows!

What's everyone using for their home games?
What's eevryones favorite cards to deal and play with?
Desjgns are probably at the intersection of value and feel for a good many of us.

Objectively, my favorite is Modiano Platinum but it loses out due to the cost and availability.

My top 3 :

1. Fournier Bridge / Jumbo
2. Cartamundi Poker Size / Jumbo (made in BE)
3. Desjgn Bridge / Black Jack

My honorable mentions :

4. Modiano Alpha Bridge / Jumbo
5. Piatnik Bridge / Jumbo
6. Copag Texas Holdem Poker / Jumbo (made in BE)

(New member here, didn’t realize how easy it is to obtain good cards lol). I’ve been using Bicycles for forever, but the good news is I’ve got a set of Bullets and LotFancys coming in the mail after seeing some positive reviews.

If there's ever a bridge-size ST1000 variant or other enthusiast-grade shuffler out there I'd probably only be using bridge-size Angels, and I use them as much as possible whenever I'm running multiple tables.

For poker size, Dal Negro and Desgjn , although I haven't had the chance to try Modiano, Fournier, or FS products yet.

Hi, SetToBean!

Just curious, if you are running multiple tables what criteria are you looking for in your cards? I imagine durability over most other aspects? I don't know if you can rakes over there but we have a small rake in our single table game so I usually hold off on the acetates in favor of more durable brands like FS or Desjgns.

Pretty much durability and resistance to creasing/marking first, then unique/memorable designs or features (e.g Desgjn's aces, or 4-colour, or 4-index). I don't rake so when I break out nice brands it's as a gift to the players, and I use the same two trusted friends who know it and appreciate nice cards as dedicated dealers for when we go to 2 or 3 tables.

I've had one incident of finding a card creased and scratched, probably due to improper peeking. Made an announcement reminding everyone to handle them properly and no issues since.

I hear you. Had a new player (invited by a friend) who was opening cards like he was playing baccarat (in casinos here they use paper cards and players practically tear them apart opening their hands). Had to kinda jokingly tell him that we weren't playing baccarat.

Some people are just used to using cheap China PVC cards. We were using brand new Desjgns at the time. These are hard for me to bring in as I have to order them online and ship them to a freight forwarder to airship it to me here in Manila.

Today we played with Guild, Dal Negro and Trefl.
Trefl are incredible good cards.
They slide best of all, and shuffle so nice.
Love the big font and bright colors.

And again they slide like no other cards without being slippery. A joy to deal!

This is exactly what happens when people peek at cards with the capper on top, on any deck of cards. I think within a couple hours we had to replace 2 or 3 decks. I could spot the flaw across the table. The host was not happy.

do you know what you are looking for?
Regularly use Desjgn, like the textured feel; stock feels thicker.
Have the newer Broken Arrows; great budget sets.
Have Faded Spade 3.0 great texture , great stock feel, a bit too stiff to hand shuffle.
Have a set up of Las Vegas cards but they faded a bit fast for me.
Copags are ok, too slick imo.

Anyone know if Faded Spade 3.0 Bridge size is less stiff? (and if it is jumbo?)

I guess something with texture? Jumbo index , ideally bridge size.

Get on @xdan ’s next GB for Statesman cards. Great texture.

Another vote for Kems but recently switched to copags for better price point

I’ve tried most of plastic cards including Kem, Copag; I even tried official WSOP cards and yeah they are all pretty good but nothing will beat proper pasteboard Bees or Tally-ho.

I love playing cards more than I love chips. I prefer

Bicycle Prestige - approachable, same design people have used but great durability and snap/texture. First plastic cards I ever used, fell in love. Good to bring to new games.

Fournier - Perfect texture and stiffness, colors are wonderful, just feels classy.

Copag - Entry point! Gateway drug for bar leagues across the US. Not perfect but cheap with beautiful colors.

Kings - Some of my favorites but out of reach most times, would like to groupbuy at some point.

Has anybody mentioned Gemaco Superflex yet? Because if nobody has mentioned Gemaco Superflex, somebody really should mention Gemaco Superflex. I had never even had Gemaco Superflex in my hands, then thechiproom sold those Hollywood setups of Gemaco Superflex, I liked the ones I got so much that I got in a couple small orders of Gemaco Superflex before the Gemaco Superflex ran out.
I got 3 packs of these and they have been the only cards I’ve run since. I have a bunch of other cards that I have yet to use.

They are just great to shuffle and super durable.

I like faded spades as far as firmness and the unique card design. One giant flaw is the splitting of cards. I will buy FS’s if they are at a discount but not full price.

Acetate: Modiano Platinum/Guild
PVC: Trefl, Fournier, Dal Negro

If flat, the Guild are my favorite cards. Same stock as Platinums but very colorful and durable.

PVC: Trefl are simply the best! Most durable cards i‘ve seen.
Their stock and print is perfect! No smell no slippery cards.
They could mess up the market with a bigger lineup!

My first introduction to plastic cards was Kem, and if it wasn’t for the price I’d purchase another deck since mine are heat damaged. The texture and the art for me is unmatched. I really like the no nonsense classic sense they have. If only you didn’t have to take a loan out for a setup!

Overall though, desjgn jumbo index is my favorite. Art is awesome and card stock is nice and thick but not too stiff like FS. Also, I wonder if the stock for standard and jumbo is different? I purchased two sets of the standard index and they both were much less textured and stiff, almost not stiff enough and kind of slippery when handling. I’m curious if anyone else had a similar experience with them or not…

For non plastic cards though, these are top tier. IYKYK

Honestly, I really like the GutShot cards from triton. Bought 8 for $40, they each come with their own cut card. They’re textured on top, smooth on bottom. The only downside I’ve seen is the color on the face fades a bit sooner than expected, but right now for the price and how well they deal I like em
