This is directed towards all of you that host weekly or monthly games. What time do you usually start/stop?

My monthly game, people arrive at 7:00. Tournament starts at 7:30, usually ends around 11:30. Cash game starts when the second table opens, usually about 10 and typically ends between 1 and 2. The latest was around 3:30. I regretted that one when I was on the ice coaching the 7:00 am mite practice.

So when do you usually break up? Any good home game marathon stories, like having people leaving as the kids are eating breakfast?

I think your timeline is about the same for us, except that the tournament usually ends after midnight. We are now starting at 6 most games instead of 7.

If you remember Ryder 8 from HPT, the first time I played in his game, I left at 6 a.m. and it was a 45 minute drive home. The wife didn't understand what a hot streak was, or she didn't fully appreciate it.

We usually end around 2 am. Its not uncommon to play until 3. At that point I'm usually throwing people out of my house lol.

My first three games at @ChaosRock place I played there until 5-530. Slept for a few hours and drove home (50 minute drive). As @WedgeRock said. You don't leave when things are luck boxing your way to a solid profit. Then add that Paulo is a great host, friendly, good drinks available........

@mike32 games also usually go until well after 3.

Us degenerates don't like to leave the table :)

We play Thursday nights, game starts at 7pm and almost never ends before 3am. 4:30 is the latest. And only because I finally called it, the other 2 players would have kept playing if I let them. 2 hours later when my alarm went off was very rough.

We keep saying we should put a hard stop at 2:30, but it hasn’t happened yet.

We start around 6:30 usually. Depending on day of the week (and whether we are playing a tourney and cash, or just cash), we sometimes wrap up between 12a - 1a (if it’s a weeknight and ppl have to work in the morning, but my game does have a reputation for going late (or early).

One game a few years back, one of my neighbors was reported to have gone outside after he cashed out, on a nice quiet Sunday morning (my other neighbors had their windows open and were woken up to my player/neighbor screaming loudly “Hey, it’s light outside”.). It was 6am. I didn’t hear anything because we were still playing in my basement.

Average probably 2 AM. Sometimes 1, sometimes 3. The latest I’ve ever played is probably 3:45.

We play cash and (sometimes) small $20 buyin tourneys every Friday. We start at 7pm and the end time depends in whether or not I have anything going on the next day. If not, we go until whenever nibody wants to play. I have played heads up 2 or 3 times until 5:30 or 6 Sat morning. If I have anything going on the next day, we end at 1pm or 2.

When we have deep stack tournaments (3rd week of the month), we start at noon or 1pm. Tourney usually runs about 8 hours, and cash after goes until whenever.

The real driver of whenether or not I feel like dog shit the next day is how much (and what) I'm drinking that night. I can get 4 or 5 hous of sleep and feel great if I wasn't too drunk the night before. That's rare though...LOL!!

When ever I did a tournament style game people usually leave earlier being that I don’t have the room for another cash table. That said I’ve switched almost exclusively to cash games with my two crews and they seem to run late ....2am or longer.
Aiming at an earlier start this Friday

Two monthly scheduled Saturday two-table tournaments -- doors open at 1:30 p.m. with first event starting at 2 p.m. Dinner break at 6:45, followed by second event starting at 7:30 p.m. Usually wraps up by midnight, occasionally as late as 1:00 a.m. depending on the format. We occasionally play on Sundays; on those dates, all times are pushed back an hour.

When the collective 'we' were younger, there were usually two or more additional impromptu late-night single-table events, sometimes lasting until 6 a.m.

Cash game from 6-8pm. Tournament starts at 8pm. Runs until 12:30 or so with a cash table opening when first table breaks. We will have two cash tables going until about 2am then we consolidate to one. 3:30 am hard stop which usually ends before 4am.

I had to put in the hard stop because one game where we had a huge fish at the table was willing to play until 7am. Are I was walking the guys out my wife was cooking her breakfast. She was not happy. So 3:30ish hard stop it is!

Tuesday night games happen every week. I host half of them. Game starts no later than 6:45 and ends at 10:00 sharp. This hasn't changed for over a decade.

Saturday night games happen 2nd, 4th and 5th Saturdays. Food at 6:45, game starts by 7:15. People come early some nights based on the menu leading to a little earlier starting times. Game ends when we get tired. This is an evolving thing. In the mid-2000's my games lasted late - say 1:00am to 5:00am. As we got older, the games get shorter. It is rare for a game to last till 2:00am, most commonly now we break around midnight.

Irregular $1/$2 games start 7:00 or 7:30 depending on the needs of the group. Almost always played on a week night. These games can last very late, typically ending at 3:00am - 4:00am. Two short tales:

This game was played in an unheated garage. My chips & cards, someone else provides the venue. His wife doesn't like the players and hates the smokers. We aren't very welcome in the house, so our bathroom is "out there, somewhere" (this is the country, not like an urban environment but still taking a dump in the "yard" is a little strange.) This game is in the dead of winter and very cold for Texas. Something like 15 degrees or so. So cold that the drinkers' glasses never need a refill on ice. One guy has polished off most of a bottle of whisky and comments that it is the same ice he started with at 7:00, but it is 3:00 and his bottle is drained.

One game has run extra long. It is past 5:00 and we are debating if it is worth it to get two hours sleep or if we should get on with the game till dawn. One of the attorney mentions he has court at 10:00. Normally he handles traffic and drunk driving cases, but this time he says it is the early part of a death penalty case. (let's just say, this guy would be my go-to guy if I got arrested late at night but no chance I would use him for something serious in a court.) It seems he got randomly "picked" to be the public defender for someone charged in a capital murder case. He figures that he is already drunk so sleep or no sleep the guy isn't going to get a good job from his lawyer. In that case, he votes we should keep on playing. We played till 7:00, when several of us had to go get kids and take them to school. No idea how the death penalty case turned out.

Good times -=- DrStrange

Tuesday tourney starts 7:30 ends about 12 AM. Monthly cash game starts same time and we have a 12 AM curfew.

This is the interesting thing about poker, it's usually at night. It's bad for me because my brain usually shuts off around 10:30!

I'm the secondary host (10-15% of games) of my weekly Tuesday tourney group. The game starts at 7:00pm, usually ends around 11:00-11:30, and the primary host breaks up any side games and throws everybody out as soon as the tourney is finished. When I host, the cash game runs until everybody is too tired to play. Last night we played until about 3:30am, then went to Waffle House afterward. (y)

Cash games are about once and month and usually on Friday night, again starting at 7pm. I ask anyone who takes a seat to commit to at least two buy-ins or 11pm, whichever comes first. Of course it's a suggestion, not a rule, and I've never strictly enforced it. The game usually runs until at least 1am, and sometimes much later. Last weekend's game at @ni9n3r's was still going three-handed when I left at 5:30am.

6:30 pm until they quit lol. I haven't had a game end earlier than 12:30 am and longest so far was until 7:30 am. Wife was getting up for work, said hello and wtf is wrong with you guys, and left.

As host, I play until the last guy quits. I never end the game. As long as someone wants to play, we'll play lol

Whenever I say,”Bitches, GO HOME!”

I say the same thing but my house is full of dudes.

Our Thursday night weekly league game starts @ 8:00pm with cash games following as people get knocked out.
1:00am is last round meaning everyone left deals 1 more time.
Tournaments on weekends with cash games afterwords regularly go til sun up.

The details are fuzzy now, but this thread brings back memories of a weekend game at @Payback's. I don't recall what time Friday's game broke up, but the Saturday game ran from around noon on Saturday until midnight Sunday (not a typo). We did interrupt the game for Sunday morning breakfast.
