The one sci-fi show I have that I still haven't watched yet.
It's rough in the beginning - I stopped watching it in the first season. I later went back and watched it in reruns between the second and third seasons on advice from those whose taste I trusted.

If it wasn't for the "jerking around" by the networks, it would have easily been the best sci-fi series ever made. Even so, it is still a top 5 series. It plays out more like a book than a typical TV series with character development, intrigue, climax, the twist, and then a conclusion / epilogue. It's the reason I can't follow a series today, if it doesn't have a story arc.

AKA "giving it the Firefly."

The series was originally conceived to have a five-season story arc, which was nearly unheard of in American television back then (and is still very uncommon today). While they had to make adjustments because of the aforementioned jerking around, I agree with it being high up there in the ranks of sci-fi TV. I might have to set aside a few hours and watch some episodes again.

Not sure how it stands up over time - I only watched it once - but it was a great show in its day.

There's no doubt it looks dated now, even when I watched the first episode several years ago. As long as the story is solid, I can be bought.

I've often heard people say that about B5. I have all the movies and spin-offs and such as well, in addition to the main series. Doing some googling a while back there's quite a few ways to watch the entire canon in the best order. This was similar to when I watched BSG, which is still one of my favorite sci-fi shows of all time.

Never watched B5. But I did on a whim during the pandemic watch nearly every episode of ST deep space nine. Hated it as a kid, but enjoyed it now. Alot better then I expected.

Id highly recommend watching BSG if you haven't gone down that road. It turned out to be 100x better than what I expected, having no knowledge beforehand.

Damn, this makes me sad  The movies and webisodes are all great too. I can hook you up if need be.
I very rarely finish series. I normally get bored and turn them off. The only exceptions to that rule were Justified and The Shield. Those series I've watched multiple times and still will watch randomly.

I'm rather selective in the shows I watch and I always have to at least watch the end of a season before I bail. My one exception was American Horror Story I think it was called. Fucking putridity at it's finest, I thought it was horrible. I bailed a few episodes in.

I quit Breaking Bad after two seasons. Dexter after 1. The Wire after 1.

I'm a picky bastard when it comes to TV and Shows.

Wow, Breaking Bad is all time good IMO, same with The Wire. Dexter was a good watch but not one of my favorites. Surprised by that list. Different strokes I guess.

Eh. Things annoy me that shouldn't. The Wire I enjoyed, but the use of pagers drove me nuts. It was the same pagers I had to use at work in the 2000s, and it would make me nearly puke every time it went off. It's like pager PTSD

This is hilarious lol  :ROFLMAO:

I watched for a while in spite of it being out of my normal lane for TV. I thought the first couple of seasons were pretty good, then it rapidly fell off a cliff.

Breaking Bad was another one of those shows that I don't normally watch. I didn't come into it until after it was finished, but luckily I'd managed to remain pretty unspoiled.

I tore through the first seasons, then got a little satiated and took a break early in season four. Came back a few months later and finished it, and I'm glad I did.
