Is there a definitive answer whether this pokerchest.com site, also known as 777pokerchest.com, is still in business? They list a set of 500 WTC in mahogany case for $750. You can put it in a shopping cart. Somebody said here that their credit card didn't initially go through. Did it eventually? The numbers one the website don't work. I got an address in Brooklyn with a different number and it didn't work. And so far (two days) no e-mail response. I am suspecting that the site is still up but the business is closed and these chips aren't available.
My plan was to get a set of custom ceramics from Lynbark Designs. But then when I saw that I could get new Paulsons for $750, I was glad because what an opportunity, but had mixed feelings because I didn't really want to spend that much. I suspect they are not available. Anybody know?
Yes, Apache has some sets at the prices I would expect to pay, but the denominations don't suit me.

I'm specifically looking for Blues ($1), Reds ($5), and and a handful of the higher denoms (500, 1000). Let me know if you have any you want to part with.

How many 500s do you want? - that's the denomination of which I have the most extras. Might part with a barrel of 1Ks. Have a 1200-piece set (not counting extras) of 200-1 200-5 200-25 200-100 100-500 200-1000 100-5000. Our game is $10/25 PLO8 so the high denoms see their fair share of use . . . I never use the 1s but don't want to sell them as I have 2 racks on the dot and want to keep the 1200 set intact. Stupid Paulson.

Depends on the price, but if we can agree on that, I'd take a rack of the $500s and a barrel of the $1000s.

Those are so nice looking chips.. Why are they so much? Are sets like these even considered custom? Aren't they widely produced when it was still being manufactured. sorry if noob question, i'm new :O
Yes, there were at least 100,000 produced; probably three-four times that many. Not exactly a rare item. Makes no sense to me why people would prefer them over real casino Paulson chips, or be willing to pay more for them.
I really like the WTH&C series, & I just couldn't bring myself to sell what I have recently( rack of 500's, barrel or 2 of 100's & 5000's & some of the others), when semi-financing my custom B-molds J5 is still working on .. & may still build up my set of these one day. ...
Reasons I would guess they are so sought after:
They are ( or possibly are?) the Only or 1 of only 2 inlayed chips ever available to home users that was on the "suits mold", & few chips for that matter actually used that nice mold, with it's combo of TH&C with suits design..
They had the grand slam, Real Clays, edge spot progressions, real shaped inlays, nice, & uncommon to find generally ...
They always have been ( & still occasionally are) available in new, mint sharp edge condition in and in all denoms, from 1 to 5000.
Not just chipaholics, but also poker players not as severely chip addicted as us, but still aware of Paulson, BCC &/or "good" chips , bought or were gifted these over the past decade, & now are driving up prices with their demand, to add demons &/or quantities to their sets ...

Personally, I'm just trying to complete my set. I'm not a chip collector; I want a functional set of chips to use for games.
In retrospect, I should have started with the Private Cardroom chips or some such. I don't really want to pay $3/chip.
