Who is the fish? KsQ Ts9 O8, fixed limit. (1 Viewer)

Based on our betting pattern, I would expect villain to call with any low, even if they have just a one pair high hand, "just in case". I don't think we're folding out any high-only hands that have us beat (A33x for example) plus there's a very real chance villain has A4xx in their range and wants to check raise us into oblivion. I think the odds of villain having two worse pair with no low and calling us is worse than us getting a call from a better hand, or worse, getting check-raised.

It's limit O8, unless $4 counts as oblivion. Also unlikely villain is checking having hung in there and drawn to runner runner nut nut.

You could even get a scoop if they fold, they can easily just have had A3xx here and paired their low draw.

Nearly missed the river. Check - call. You have top two. Might be best, might not. Expect to split the pot with low. I know it's all about the bets, but still I would play it so.

I'm going to have to try playing some of this fixed limit business sometime. It sounds very different and interesting.

Fixed limit is a very good social game and my structure of choice when playing circus games with inexperienced players. There is a sweet joy to scooping a pot with 100+ chips and getting them all stacked up.

*** Results - or - go figure? ***

Hero bets, expecting to chop most of the time but occasionally get called by a worse high hand. Villain calls and turns over " 7-4" for low and " the wheel for high".

Villain has :kh: :7h: :4h: :ad:

River: < :tc: :9s: :5h: > :2c: :3d:

Hero has :ks: :qd: :ts: :9h:

Villain sweeps . . . no idea how she check calls with that hand.

and note that villain called the flop bet holding :kh: :7h: :4h: :ad: on flop of < :tc: :9s: :5h: > Pretty funny really.

Following this thread I figured she was going to pop over an A 4. Your title kind of hinted at the result!

Isn't the wheel nut low in O8? You play 2-7 low not A-5?

The wheel is the nut low. Villain just kind of forgot that even though she plays in this game every week for a decade+ {that is something like 500 sessions and she still sometimes can't read the board for low } I can not offer any explanation for why someone with this holding never bets.

Thank you for pointing this out, it could have been played that way.
