That's a sweet hot wheel! And nice work on the carrier that would be cool if it pans out well!
So, I reached out to one of our manufacturers in China
I am so hoping with not one but two Paulson sample sets indicates that you are doing a NAGB so more brand new THCs can be brought into existence and released to the wilds of PCF!
What’s “NAGB”?
Seems weird that noone's mentioned it, so maybe I'm off. Generally, bird cages are only meant for display and immediate areas, and not for travel. Even super bird cages wouldn't seem to be the best thing to use for bringing chips around.
I plan not to ever use another birdcage to take chips out of my own home. That's what these are for...I should clarify: I meant transport as in taking it from one room to another, or upstairs to downstairs. Or even a short drive. Not across the country, or rigorous travel.
Makes sense. You mentioned racks jiggling in the car, so I just assumed a travel set. Lol I still don't want to pick up 1k chips in the elevator or street, but bird cages are cool.I should clarify: I meant transport as in taking it from one room to another, or upstairs to downstairs. Hmm. I should make one just for the chips, could weld and powder coat the whole thing in house at work. Probably could even manufacture and assemble the door and locking mechanismsMakes sense. Even if money was a 0 factor, I think if chips are leaving the house almost all chippers would suggest some type of sturdy case, i.e. Pelican.
If money is a 0 factor, for home storage I'm sure there is a ton that others and you can/will do. Great options out there. Personally I'm pretty sure I'm eventually going with this for a set or two, or accessories (one of these filled with MSK plaques please!). Powder coated of course, with custom wording.
I think these only run about $7k (6 feet tall)

I bought a few birdcages, forget from where. Definitely not sturdy enough to carry around one in each hand full of chips, handle will break off or something and chips flying everywhere. The couple times I used them to take chips to a home game I had to carry one birdcage at a time with one hand supporting the bottom.
When I bought all those Freddie's chips, they came with 3 birdcages from the casino. They were beat to hell, but very heavy-duty. Much thicker base, walls, handle, much sturdier construction. Those I would very comfortably swing around, full, one in each hand no problem.
$59 for small quantities like I want. $24 for 1,000+.Any idea on landed pricing yet?
Welcome to vendorhood and group buys! I'll take 4.$59 for small quantities like I want. $24 for 1,000+.
Those chip racks look awesome!
@Ben8257So this is the chip that took me down the rabbit hole. This will be my last true look at them, because I’ve found that my chip tastes have evolved, and I’ll be letting every single one of these go in an upcoming sale. I got most of them off-forum for an incredible deal, so I’ll be passing some of that on to those who want it.
Here is my collection of 3893 Paulson Classics, all of which will go on the classifieds forum soon.
You always remember your first one.

Yep, almost the exact same mold. Same manufacturing house, I think. We just commissioned a slightly more durable material for them, and added a couple more notches for stability. You can get them on eBay and I think Amazon too. They look the same to me. A bit pricey buy maybe you can work out a better deal. GB? lol

Next up is my current favorite set — the ridiculously cool, colorful and weighty Outposts. I plan to do a better photoshoot with this set, but here’s what I took the day they arrived! The $2 chip is to DIE for.

Welcome to vendorhood and group buys! I'll take 4.
Shipping to Europe for coupla those....?
Anyone doubt that we could easily reach 1000 on this, even with the last two GBs for birdcages? At $24, I'd take 10. 100 more takers for 10?
I'd take at least a few certainly
Put me down for 4.
Any way to get the honeycomb holders to be more transparent, so the chips can be displayed better?Since this is a thread I started to document my chipping journey, I thought I should also write a bit about what I've been learning about surrounding subjects, like storage.
I’ve been struggling with storage / transport of my main game chips, the 43MM Jacks, and the only 43MM carriers I was able to find were the few offered by Gene at @ABC Gifts and Awards a few weeks ago.
The next option was a normal carrier from @Apache or BR Poker with Matsui racks, but those racks are so delicate, a small amount of jiggling in the car will throw them off / have them break. Not great for transport. Fantastic for static storage, though.
So, I reached out to one of our manufacturers in China, and had this custom carrier made. Here’s an initial prototype, with a honeycomb interlocking rack system. I had them use a denser polymer for the racks to create more substance than the Matsuis, and they're sized to fit the 43MMs, but given the top cover, should be able to store 39MMs as well. I will have a couple of test carriers in a few days, will let you know how it turned out and post pictures!
Here is a picture of the prototype our Chinese manufacturer took and sent me.
