Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (17 Viewers)

Hi everyone, french newcomer (so please pardon my sure to come language errors) here on PCF... First comment.

Just finished reading (more looking at) the 48 pages of this thread. First of all, thank you so much WW for sharing all this, I really like the reflections you have while pursuing your collection.

I landed on page 13 after clicking on a link for a search on "paulson poker chip".
After 2 pages I said to myself oh there's something here...
Went to page 1.
Feeling a certain vertigo not even on page 3.
Subscribed on page 24.
Cried a little on page 30-something when the giveaway is announced but knowing I'm totally not elligible. (I'm cool now lol)

I have no poker set of mine yet.
Man I just discovered a new world...
Where will I find the time and money?
I don't even know where to begin...
Have a nice day everybody...

Welcome to the world of chipping, poker and just about any other topic you could imagine. Take your time, enjoy the ride and hang on to your wallet with both hands. :ROFLMAO:

With the upcoming additions of my Westerner and El Cortez TRK full sets, and recent Mapes and Nevada Lodge acquisitions, I've now gotten enough of a variety of TRKs that I am willing to let some go. Plus, I need the space. I've decided that my King's Castle set will be the most likely to go, not because I don't love it, but because the denominations are so much better suited for a smaller stakes game. This is not an official sale, but I wanted to field interest from people wanting to acquire an entire TRK set. This is a massive one (1600 or so chips,) and includes fracs, hundos and some super rare high denom $500s. As far as I know, there is no other complete King's Castle set of this size anywhere. Here is the breakdown:

$0.50 140
$1.00 700
$5.00 300
$25.00 300
$100.00 125
$500.00 4

I am not interested in breaking the set up at all, they can stay in my vault in that case. But I do know a TRK club exists in PCF, and some of these chips never see the light of day. I wanted to give someone new or inexperienced with TRKs an opportunity to own one. This is not a sale thread, just curious about whether there is interest. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for this set, but, for the right person looking to build a collection for the right reasons, I will probably let this go for below my cost.

All questions by PM only -- this is just to gauge interest. Also, pretty chips, pretty pictures. :)

I was like ok sweet, I’ve only owned TRK singles, No sets. Check one for the monkey!!! Oh ya Then I read this part of the quote.

When the great WWWhale says redic my stomach dropped irl. One cant even begin to imagine what a guy with a door man and custom glasses high above the hills in Beverly thinks is redic. I’m assuming $2 a chip? Lol

I’ve been troubled by how to ship individual barrels for a while now. The Warneke boxes work incredibly well for full racks, but for expensive barrels, the traditional method of rolling them up in bubble wrap and then padding an SFRB has seemed primitive.

And then I remembered something from my hardcore Numismatist days — the patented silver Medallion holder. In fact, the original sizes of chips had been based off the the treasury’s model for medallion coins, and so I dug through my storage closet and voila!

They have CRAZY prices on Amazon, but you can get them for 95 cents each here:

I always wondered if there was a way to make them into a rack. But then there’s the Matsui type rack and equivalents.

Before I PM to see potential costs and owning the best set there is out there, what $ amount do you place on someone coming to work for you for a year?

I think it's a great idea, and while I've seen it I have never seen a link for purchases, thanks. But more importantly, I want to know the million dollar word you tell people instead of poker chip collecting, so that I can use it too.

I've done this before and then taped the 'package' together. Padded and shipped.

Can confirm I received chips from Dave (and others) this way and they came through excellent. I now send a barrel or less the same way, obviously with padding etc. added. The medallion holder (and those chips you have in them Krish :jawdrop:) looks like an awesome method.
