Windwalker on High Stakes Poker (2 Viewers)

Nobody laughs as Matt takes 2 cards, Krish takes 2, and Hornet is patting. On the Queen of Hearts turn — it looks like Berg is trying to say something but he’s also trying to win a prop bet with players from the next table over where he has to fit an entire Big Mac in his mouth. We’ll wait for him to — wait, it looks he’s repotted and is now not-so-quietly asking what game they’re playing. He’s a canny wily one this Berg.

Matt appears to be repotting but is also missing a card in his hand, and Krish is feverishly typing on his phone. Hornet calls and looks very annoyed - probably because this hand started 39 minutes ago.

As Krish ponders a call Matt appears to ask if it’s high low and says ‘Oh Dear’”.

Watched S9E11....Mild spoilers.

Wondering what it was like to play with Eric Persson...When he's being interviewed and says that the "bet size don't matter" to him due to his acquired wealth and that "I'm dead inside". He's almost playing a character...like some sort of loose cannon Alpha Cookie Monster at the table to me.

While Phil Helmuth deserved a big comeuppance that Persson delivered in that 25K Poker Go heads up showdown, Eric definitely crossed the line. Watching him on HSP, I've backed off on disliking the guy a little bit and definitely want to see more poker from the bulk casino owner. He's definitely brings some villainous hijinks, action, and bro-dozing banter to the table and it was on full display against the pros in some crazy pots.

I will say also, AJ's commentary has rounded into expected form in it's a decent improvement from his poor start to the season.

I realize that Persson is good for the game and the casual viewer (if that’s a thing considering it takes a subcription to PokerGo) probably likes to watch him get in the pros’ heads.

I just think he’s cringe worthy and not someone I would like to have at my table. To me poker is a gentleman/-woman’s game and his constant talking/banter gets old fast. At first it was mildly entertaining to watch the pros trying to make sense of his plays/talk but does this guy ever shut up?

@Windwalker maybe you could introduce some STFU-chips for next season
 
No doubt he's awkwardly aggressive, abrasive, too competitive, and possibly manic. Maybe it was the editing and narrative the show was trying to paint but Persson tried to half-heartedly wrangle up Krish and Stanley into a Pros vs. Bros stance at the table solely for his financial benefit. He's off-putting with his hyperbolic arrogance when touting his achievements in business too. I wouldn't want to be the manager of a profit center that directly reports to that guy. My gut which I trust very much away from the poker table, tells me he's got some stuff swept under the rug, skeletons in the closet, and maybe a body or two in the desert. He's just 'off'. I bet that chest tat would tell the whole story. I still want to watch him though until he uses up his store credit earned with me as the 'Anti-Phil'. There is still a lot of 'High Stakes Persson' (Good one AJ :sneaky:) left and I'm here for this little slice of chaos so we'll see how I feel about him when the season wraps up.

Show me in a picture what Krish and most of the table thought of Persson. Probably.

Persson at the table is definitely playing a character IMO. I listened to this and it definitely sounds like the guy is pretty perssonable :cautious: and has his stuff together at his day job.

Well, not exactly. If Garrett shoves, Persson is on the hook for all of it, isn't he? He just got in Garrett's head like he did with almost everybody else.
 
Wow what a hand between Garrett and Persson. I honestly wouldn't know what to do as Garrett in that spot. Would there be a floor ruling if Garrett decides to complain about it? If he does decide to bet the 75k as he intended to, could Personn elect to raise here?

No, Personn had already announced out of turn that he was calling. The interesting question is what if instead of putting in 75, he says he's all in? I think Persson is on the hook for Garrett's whole stack.

Not sure this is correct

I haven't seen the hand in question, but assuming Garret hadn't bet yet, Perrson saying "I'm calling whatever you bet" wouldn't bind him to actually doing that in most rooms I don't believe, since the action facing him hasn't been made yet

Good to know. That makes it just a scummy trick, instead of an incredibly risky gambit.
 
Just said to wifey that guy Krish is on the chip site . Next hand he goes all in with QJ vs Texas Dolly who had pocket aces . Ran it twice and hit trip queens and then queens over jacks. Holy windwalker, Batman

Sometimes they need the floor to have discretion to rule based on "what's best for the game" as not every situation in poker is black and white

The ruling is by the floor, on the basis of the floor’s discretion

And usually in my experience the floor will, if asked, rule before the non-offending player acts. I.e Garrett can learn how exactly Persson’s action is binding before acting

In hindsight, I don't think it was made into an issue because Garrett didn't kick up a fuss about it at the time time. I would have been livid, personally; knowing Persson's table style, it was a blatant angle.
