57% success rate is closer to positive results than negative.
A lot of the raffles listed back then was pretty bad EV, aka a bad deal. IIRC they were often priced above market so that might have something to do with the success rate.

I see your point but the seller always has the option to lower the price or cancel the auction due to lack of interest at the price listed.
I’m not claiming it’s a perfect way to go about moving a set of chips, I’m just pointing out that it’s an option.
