I was very fortunate to receive this as a gift from a friend who spent a lot of time in Vegas.

Little did he know that if he got caught palming a WSOP chip he would have been banned from all future events.

Can anyone tell me why there is a BJ on the bottom of the chip if this is WSOP? He only played in poker tournaments and not Black Jack, which I figured the BJ stood for.

It is the required manufacturer's mark -- BJ stands for Bud Jones Company.
 
If I got caught pocketing one, I would just play dumb. Are the really going to ban you for pocketing the lowest denomination chip? I could see a T5000 or something
