Yoooo...what!?? (6 Viewers)

“I agree with @ekricket - he shouldn't have said anything unless he knew it was okay. People (in entertainment or other) don't seem to know how to be sincere any more.”

The context matters. His wife is a celebrity herself. She’s spoken about the alopecia many times publicly. It’s worlds apart from making a joke about someone’s wife who isn’t a celebrity about something they haven’t chosen to speak about on camera.

We’re talking about baldness. Baldness! Rock didn’t joke about her cheating on him with their sons friend. that would have been way funnier and way more below the belt where you can sort of understand this type of reaction. But we’re talking about BALDNESS.

for perspicuity:

Chris was wrong to attack Jada? Yes
Was Will wrong to defend his wife? No
Was Will's approach wrong? Yes

Other than these two actions, I think it was the best possible outcome.

It political for a few reasons, but they are deep in nature.

Our society is torn between an old way and a new way. A lot of our parents raised us to defend and protect yourself, we live by the maximum spare the rod, spoil the child. Then as we aged things changed, non violence is taught.

Does might make right, is it ad populum what we live by? - Political =)

Comedy is at its best when it punches up, not down. Most of time making fun of physical attributes is punching down. In rare instances it can sorta be punching up like when the target is a political figure. Even then it is low hanging fruit.

I also think comedians can joke about whatever they want. Dead baby jokes, aids jokes, nun jokes, whatever. If it’s not funny they will adjust. It’s how free speech works and sometimes comedians are the only ones brave enough to say the emperor doesn’t have any clothes. They miss the mark a lot too which this incident illustrates.

Again, it’s alll fake so getting riled up about it is about as productive as arguing politics with a Russian twitter bot.

Will was smiling at the joke until he glanced over at Jada and realized she wasn't happy. Then he let his ego take over.
What a tool. If you're sitting in the front row of a Gallagher show, you can expect to get blasted by watermelon. Rock was doing his job...he's a comedian for fick sake. Now comedians are fair game to assault if you don't like what they say. Where are we Afghanistan?

Smith should have been escorted and cuffed by LAPD and escorted to jail.

The most surprising thing about the whole event was how weak that slap was. I mean, shit, my father used to slap me harder then that as a pre-teen. It got me wondering what would have happened if Rock had defended himself.

In any case - I agree that Smith was out of line, but you gotta know your audience. Clearly that stage is not a good venue for even mild jokes at the expense of massive ego. If this had happened at a comedy club, things would have played out much differently.

I think Rock did a good thing by not filing charges. But as a tangent, the police said they are not pursuing the matter because the individual declined to file. My understanding is that police often wont file assault/battery charges when the victim won't cooperate due to lack of evidence. But this was on tape watched by millions. They don't need Rock to testify to prove that a crime was committed (unless Smith would argue that it was staged).

A harmless joke targeting a filthy rich celebrity with a history of cheating isn’t what most would consider punching down even if it is about appearance. If she wore a wig to hide it and didn’t publicize the issue it would be a bit different. She’s brandishing that bald head like it’s a mark of honour.

If your idea of comedy is making fun of other peoples deformities or medical conditions then you are a bully, not a comedian, and yes, you should get used to getting slapped in the face.

I think Will Smith showed remarkable restraint by only open hand slapping him instead of a closed fist, tooth loosening smack down.

That’s what you would expect him to do in one of his movies. You would expect it and not be surprised. So spare us the “condone violence” shit because you eat it up in the theater. When it’s not in the movies, when people aren’t winning awards for it, when you aren’t spending money on movie tickets that have SLAPPING in them, then maybe you can argue “condone violence”, because right now the movie industry does condone violence and they profit handsomely from it. Even in your Disney kid movies characters get slapped when they get out of line.

If you think violence isn’t the way to handle this then maybe you shouldn’t be using bully tactics to embarrass and ridicule someone for no fault of their own. Bullying usually ends with the bully getting slapped down.

the funny thing is you actually think that was REAL LOL man wow

not trolling man it's how they script the world you live in

Read Up study up on " Gematria "

open you're eyes things happen everyday by this code

gematriaeffect.news

or gematria effect sports on YT

and again for the 20th time these are not my websites

Is it like the Matrix?

If you haven't seen the video. Smith actually laughs and gives a small clap when Rock delivers the "joke". Jada does not look amused. A few seconds later, Smith comes on stage and slaps Rock. Smith proceeds back to his seat and says "Keep my wifes name out your ***king mouth" and repeats shouting "Keep my wifes name out your ***king mouth". Opinions are like a$$holes, if it's not yours it stinks but IMHO Smiths behavior is far worse than Rocks tasteless joke.

Profane language in link:

If someone used gemetria before last night to predict Will Smith was gonna slap Chris Rock across the face, I’d be all in!

Also, I am accepting any bets that last night was faked. It makes no sense from Will Smith’s (or Jada Pinkett Smith’s) perspective to have staged that. Will Smith is going to get a ton of shit for what he did.

Lol all of this stuff is scripted. Zero chance this wasn’t a set up. And I don’t need numbers to prove it. Nothing in Hollywood is real. I refuse to give this attention.
As someone who knows both parties, and was there in person, I can guarantee you that none of this was scripted.

the funny thing is you actually think that was REAL LOL man wow
Just because it may be scripted does not mean it’s not real. Those guys are probably more real than you even when they are acting.
If you truly live your whole life according to whatever script you calculate then I’d be impressed.
As it is it’s a “cocktail party” subject with you and the rest of us, just something we talk about much the same as we once pondered among ourselves “who shot JR”? Something to pass the time, but nothing we would pin our families futures on.
If I’m off base here and you live your life according to strict Gematria principles then we probably shouldn’t be making fun of you. But you seem to be more interested in getting someone else to do this so you can see their results than you are in living this for yourself. It’s a weird theory that you want other people to try so you can see if it might work for you too. Nobody is going to figure this out for you. Nobody is going to adopt this and say “you are right!”

As someone who knows both parties, and was there in person, I can guarantee you that none of this was scripted.
Wow. I don’t know either party and definitely wasn’t there.

While hard to believe, I guess it is possible it’s not scripted which would affect my view on it. Physical violence in response to insults is problematic and should not be viewed as okay societally, unless you want that society to have a lot of violence. I personally think it’s good we’ve moved away from duels and “honor society” type of behaviors.

I think I know why this convo is going to end up in the politics tab lol

Will’s reaction was misdirected anger and frustration while trying to reestablish the masculinity that has constantly been taken from him by his spouse and social media memes. Chris Rock is a comedian who specializes in standup. He was chosen for a particular reason to be a presenter at the award show and everyone in attendance would expect a comic to make jokes (whether funny or not).

Chris can take a hit, Will can’t take a joke.

I take back what I said about you not ruffling feathers. I clicked this link. This is the dumbest shit I have ever seen. Maybe you should stop injecting dumb shit into otherwise normal conversations.
again just because you cannot comprehend what it is doesn't mean it is the dumbest sh*t
