Any tea drinkers here? What's your favorite?

I was always a staunch black coffee drinker, until a few years ago. I got a bad cold and found tea made it so much better, and I could drink cup after cup without stomach or caffeine issues...and I never went back to coffee.
I've always loved a large mug of strong, black tea...the breakfast teas (English, Irish, Scottish) and Assam teas are the best. Never been a fan of tea with too much going on, like an Earl Grey. Simpler the better. I prefer it with sugar, no milk (I know, I'm weird).

My current favorites are:
Taylor's Assam:

Ahmad English No.1:

And the new favorite loose leaf tea, Justea Mt. Kenya Black (from Whole Foods)

I'm not super picky. Most mornings it's just some Twinnings. But I do appreciate a delicious vanilla black. Especially if it has a shot of bourbon in it.

I should try a vanilla black..I bet I can cut back on the sugar, which is probably better for me anyway

My kind of thread! Don't get me started on coffee.. mmm... folgers (second to only coffee from the local gas station).

A while back, I did a search for the strongest black teas, and saw numerous recommendations for Lapsang Souchong variety. It’s dried over a pine wood fire.
I got the Taylor’s and this is so strong, it’s like drinking a campfire in a cup. Once opened, I put the box in a ziplock, and the smoke smell went right through the sealed bag. I had to move it to the basement, as it made the kitchen smell like a fire. :ROFLMAO:

This is one of my favorites. I like the smoke flavor.

I’m also partial to the red teas, nice and smooth and you can brew two or three times.

I actually am getting into teas for past few years. I love Harney and Sons.

My favorites

Victorian London Fog
Bourbon Cask Black tea
Earl grey supreme

Sometimes I put a tea bag in my coffee. I think it’s delicious

This thread motivated me. Some Pu Erh, a red tea sometimes called old women’s tea. I think it’s because you can brew four cups from one tea bag, and it’s four women to a mahjong or card table

The strainer/brewer was a gift from @k9dr and his wife, it’s pretty neat. And this cuisinart electric kettle is a must have for teas.

I have been wantting to try the Harney & Sons, and heard great things about the london fog and the bourbon cask as well.
Going to pull the trigger for sure now!

WHen i bought the bourbon cask tea i had pretty low expectations. I didnt think it would be good at all, but i was so surprised after brewing first cup. It seems like such a "manly" tea if that makes sense, but its really good with a cigar too!

Instead of buying tins of both, want me to ship you a few teabags of each first? Then you can try them and see if you like them.

Black tea with just sugar was my go-to breakfast drink, but then I had to cut all caffeine for heart issues so I've had to swap to decaffeinated versions. That definitely limits the options available but when I can find it Barry's is my favorite.

Also, the Cuisinart electric kettle is a must-have (ours has a digital screen that reads the current temperature which is really handy). I end up using it all the time to speed up other cooking too, like if i'm making pasta, mashed potatoes, or anything requiring boiling water the first step is just boil water in there and cut out the waiting time for a pot of water to boil.

I love the electric kettle as well!
I remember reading an article a few years back where they asked a number of top chefs what was the one kitchen appliance for the home they could not live without…and the majority chose the electric kettle.

We go through so much loose leaf tea. I order a kilogram or two of various teas at least twice a year from Upton Teas. Their honey oolong is a recent discovery and very good.
