Assuming 6 players, what do you think of this chip set breakdown? I simply rounded up based on your suggestion. Most common breakdown for T25 20K Stack is
25/100/500/1K/5K 12/12/5/6/2
Assuming 6 players, what do you think of this chip set breakdown? I simply rounded up based on your suggestion.
$25x12 = 75 chips
$100x12 = 75 chips
$500x5 = 50 chips
$1000x6 = 75 chips
$5000x2 = 25 chips
= Total of 300 chips
Fantastic, thank youThis is fine, assuming you must buy on multiples of 25.
I have been doing so much research these past few days on here. Almost too much great info. Wished I had just spend time researching and reading years ago. So, what’s your biggest reason for moving from the 10k to the 20k events?I went to T25-base 20k starting stacks with antes for our league play many years ago. Two tables of eight with a single re-buy option, 50/100 opening blinds for 200bb. Finishes in under 5 hours.
We are experimenting a bit this year, adding two other tourney structures into the mix: T100-base 30k stacks with a bba (no rebuys, same blinds as the 20k above but starting at 100/100, 300bb), and T25-base 25k stacks with re-buy but no antes, using a more aggressive blind structure (50/100, 250bb).
The current league season consists of 9 events, 3 of each type (20k w/antes, 25k no-antes, 30k w/bba).
I haven't organized a 10k event in years, and have no plans for ever going back.
Better flow with a 200bb blind structure.what’s your biggest reason for moving from the 10k to the 20k events?
Did you find a need for more chips of any particular denom (assuming, that you are like me and have more than enough of the top denom because rebuys can get crazy some nights).Better flow with a 200bb blind structure.
200bb with 10k stacks requires 25/50 opening blinds, and avoiding 100% jumps means using a 25/75 level before hitting 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, etc.
200bb with 20k stacks requires 50/100 opening blinds, with no oddball blind amounts or 100% increases needed.

Ohh. I gotcha. Ya I have been doing the 25/75 jump but I see how the 20l stack would be superior. I just got a few sets. I was asking about a Bahamia set in the wanted section and I’m about to order one of those Big Top Poker sets from the group buys they have. I love the colors in both of those sets. I wanted to make sure I had the denominations right. I have 2 sets that have the t25 and 2 sets that have the t100 as the lowest chip. So I have been hosting t10k as well as the t30k you had recommended to me. Everyone enjoys both. I know I had see to get aBetter flow with a 200bb blind structure.

Can you share your blind structure for the 20K stack? We are doing a 20k this weekend for the first time in a while and would like a smooth blind structure that is tried and true. Much appreciated.Better flow with a 200bb blind structure.

I honestly get almost all my info from this guy. He’s been so freaking helpful with answering questions and everything. Shout out to him. Here is a copy and past from BGinGA’s post

There is a lot out there but this is also one variation I have used and it worked well

lol. Love it. Ya. I think you may be right. How do you do the rebuys when people are not out. That always messed me up. Say it is a 20k tournament with 1 rebuy. Do they rebuy for the full 20k or half the amount? And what about the dude who still have 8 k in chips but the cut off to rebuy is now. Do I let him rebuy with just as much as the guy who just went out. Even the chip leader may have 45 k in chips. Does he also get to rebuy and now have 65k in chips? I want to make it fair but someone always seems to complain so I need to really know what’s best. And as far as chipping up. I hear some guys flip cards or something. Is it 2x100 will chip up to a 500 and is you have a single 100 it’s nothing? This also has been done different ways in my games and ilthere is always someone wanting to chip up even a single chipI took over a two-table weekly tourney which ran for a good ten years, using 20K starting stacks, 100/200 starting blinds, rebuys for the first two hours, and an add-on at the break.
It worked very well for us for a long time. Games usually took about 5 hours if played down all the way, but there were often ICM chops after 4-4.5 hours if the players wanted to get home / move to the cash table which started once the two broke.
After the pandemic I switched to cash games so I only had to host 7-8 people instead of 16-18.
I’ve done tourneys with T25s to start, but found that especially older players seemed to be baffled by the blinds and how to size bets. Round numbers starting at 100 are easier for casual players.
