I *think* I got these from Sidepot Gaming when I was debating the home tourney set I wanted (ended up getting the Le Paulson Noirs), but this one was a close second. Just curious what these are called and if they're still produced?

They were made by the Blue Chip Company and were nice! When I got to play a game with them years ago I remeber thinking they were the closest thing to leaded Paulson chips I had ever shuffled. The cigar and snifter mold.

If I recall BCC and Paulson were family. Like they were related. Brothers, cousins, uncles. Something like that. Although BCC were much “harder” chips and felt different, they were close to Paulsons.

Pretty sure Paulson WAS BCC.
Hopefully somebody who knows the story will chime in. But wasn’t it the Endy sons who owned Pauson, then sold to GPI, then almost immediately opened BCC?

I think BCC was started by the Endy family after they sold Paulson. Later GPI bought BCC and actually made chips for a minute. @BGinGA is an expert on this story.

I think the "Protege" name was also used to sell the "Club in Spade" chips along with these you've pictured, which are also referred to as "Cigar and Snifter."

BCC made them on behalf of a retailer that sold to the public, and the retailer classified them as their 'protege' line... maybe?

***edit***
Oh, a whole giant thread of Protege
