$2/5NL: Bottom set vs. TAG reg (3 Viewers)

This thread about you supposedly folding flopped sets is some sort of level for BBotB, right?
Id say so,

Let me add in, I folded AA pre in a 4bet pot this morning. I also folded the nuts with 78 on a 569 flop. I was scared of a backdoor flush draw

I folded AA on a KT6 rainbow flop, after getting check-raised by an aggro spewtard. Was convinced he had KT rather than AK.

I'm a maroon.

I always show the huge laydown. Usually I'm a station so it's nice to increase the likelihood of being right later. :D

I folded 55 on a J52r flop at Foxwoods 5/10NL. Unlike Butler, villain showed the JJ.

Unlike Foxwoods, I'm shipping my 401K with any set against you Chippy McFishCakes!!!!! Pumped for next week!! (In all srsness, pumped)

Same here, but at a home game. I mucked 77 on a J73r board with a snap 4-bet from villain.

He flipped over his JJ and the convo proceeded :

Villain: [shit-eating grin across his face, frantically looking around to other players for reassurance] how could you possibly fold middle set into a rainbow board? Horrible long-term strategy

Hero: [normally composed, but definitely wanting to drag him outside after that production] I agree. Maybe you shouldn't have 4-bet the nuts on the flop into a dry board

Villain: Well, I still have 1/3 your stack

Hero: Yeah, and to think, you could have had the other 2/3 if you didn't horribly f*ck that up

Silly douche. About 10 hands later, I setmined from the HJ with 33 and took his entire stack when he had AA and blasted at a 348r flop.

People really hate when you fold "cooler" under-sets, probably because it tells them that they can only stack you by getting their money in bad and sucking out.

I love nits period. With the right lineup, you can go the whole night without showing down a single hand and still turn a fat profit.
All us nits think we are really TAGs in disguise, all while maintaining a steady VPIP < 15%. Just to mindf*ck all the LAGs in my home games, I'll occasionally play 30% of my hands consistently all night, then show every 45s as they muck top pair, middle kicker.

So anyway, yes, I folded. I guess I kind of frustratedly spiked my cards down into the muck and one of the good players watching the hand intently saw a three as I folded and started asking me if I folded pocket threes. Of course I had to say "Are you crazy, I would have taken out a second mortgage to put more money on the table with a set." The guy wouldn't stop talking about it, though. "What else could he have there? He has to have folded a set of threes." And the table was very taken up in this conversation. Villain never contributed to the conversation, so I couldn't tell you 100%, but I'm pretty sure it was the right fold.[/QUOTE]

Oooooooo, when they add ZERO to the conversation it's because they felt like they got away with something...... You got bluffed by a savvy, thinking TAG SUN!!!!! He knows his table image and overplayed those fishhooks he had!! He knew you was an intelligent, thinking player as well who could make a tough lay down...

When in doubt, MUSH THOSE CHIPS because this is going to eat away at your soul!! Maybe not, but i'm calling all day with that set and only folding to the tightest of tight players. Those are the hands we wait for in that spot!!

EH But what do I know, good read!!

Pretty solid post-fold read. Obv bluff.

I dunno I'm never folding a set unless there are 3-4 suited and / or connected board with villain showing decent aggression. Soaking wet kind of thing. I think villain more likely overplayed his overpair and wanted to get it in with JJ - AA. You would know better though as you were at the table.

Set over set is super rare. On a dry board I'm just going broke and accepting the fugly run.
