I would hope that the members that called into question my ethics would be man or woman enough to admit they may not know everything about these chips.

I expressed confusion a few times about these chips in your first ad, and am happy to admit confusion and wonder again. There's plenty I do not know about these chips, such as: who made them, who owned the mold, whether they are plastic, whether they are clay, whether they are moon-cheese, or perhaps a highly compressed glob of the junk I scrapped out from under my big toenail. Which, come to think of it, might actually weigh more than 7 grams.

Chipguide indicates these chips were produced in 1991. My money is on Chipco as the manufacturer, as they certainly produced other chips (both casino and consumer) on the Unicorn mold at that time. Perhaps they dabbled in clay chips using copies of their injection mold, and never told anybody about it. Maybe they experimented with casting chips using their ceramic mixture, or some type of hybrid mixture to emulate clay. To my knowledge, Chipco did not own any compression molding equipment, and it's pretty much established that you cannot injection-mold the material commonly referred to as 'clay'. There weren't many options for having compression clay chips produced in 1991.

Maybe the current folks at GOCC know something about it. @GameOnChipCompany ??

I know I'm not welcome much in this thread, and this post probably shouldn't come from me, but in the interest of truth I feel I must share this info...

I just discovered the injection point on the Pioneer Club chips, which have very similar characteristics.

Specifically:

- lack of an injection "mark" on chip face
- sharp/hard edges
- very pronounced surface "texture" or "crosshatch"
- lathe markings
- 8 gram weight

Looking at the edge profile one can find faint - yet noticeable - darkened rectangular markings on these chips. A small darkened dot is also noticeable at the edge spot locations. This appears to be the injection point(s). For the base chip color, it is really only noticeable on darker colors. It is imperceptible on the lighter chips (pink, yellow, orange, white) and the pure black one.

Some one, at some point, was lathing plastic injection-molded chips to remove the edge-injection mark(s)...

Have you tumbled any of these in a rock tumbler? I seem to recall this was a recommendation for wearing down compression molded chips. If you did this for these and then compared them to known compression molded chips that had been tumbled perhaps similar wear patterns could answer the question.

I have done this with injection molded super diamonds so I can examine the results and tell you if they look like that wear. I used common sand as to not be too abrasive.

Interesting please post any relevant info. That site is blocked for me.

Either way, I told Lee that I had stated that I would purchase them, and I will honor that commitment. Did I overpay...shrug. It will be a great set for the family to have fun with.

Oh and I will do my best to investigate what the deal is with these chips as well when I get them.

I don't think you overpaid, as seen here someone was willing to pay almost $2 and $2.99 shipping for one. I'm sure 3 chip samples would do much better if you wanted to
