Apache 3800 on sale (2 Viewers)

Update:

Went back to Harbor Freight and looked at their 4800. Quite a bigger size. Since the 3800 is carryon size, sticking with that:

After first coat. It says leave 30 mins between coats, 3-4 coats recommended.

Cool, thanks for the different comparisons. I think my 3800 loaded up with 1,200 chips + case is close to 30 lbs. If I went any larger probably would go with the wheeled versions.

If that 5800 full of TP HS ever needs a new home… looks great with the tournie setup ready to go.

The main difference between 4800 and 5800 besides the wheels is that the 5800 is deeper and not as wide as the 4800. The extra depth doesn’t seem like much but it’s enough for racks to be stacked sideways(wide ways) without it feeling tooo tight. Also a big plus of the 5800 for me was that it did not have the annoying side locks like the 4800 did.

The second picture I posted with the Ojibwas is a 43mm tournament set. There is still plenty of room

If you look at the second photo, I posted with the 4800 case, there’s a dealer tray that fits on top. Then all the extra racks are below it. I’m pretty sure I can do the same set up in a 5800 as I really like having the dealer tree easily accessible

Not my tidiest work, but will see how long this lasts. Plasti-dip spray can gave me about 2.5 coats. Left it out last night to offgas since it was still pretty ‘fumey’ if that’s a word.

I prefer to pluck out the block instead of leaving padding between racks. The foam isn’t firm enough for it to retain its shape with only one cell width.

Yeah, think you might be right. Will see how it holds up, but would be easy enough to take those out if need be

In my TP Tourney set I had starting stacks in tubes. I gave the foam some structure and backing with cardboard cut out. I think this is a good approach.

One of the things about the 5800 is that you don’t want to store it standing up, even though it seems natural since it has wheels. But the weight of all those chips crushes the foam and when you open the case it’s all compressed. You have to store it flat

No issues closing that with the third row of racks? Great set!
Yes and no.

2 rows zero issue. 3rd row I have to press down a little more to get it closed. The base foam and the foam in the lid compress and it works.

I received a tip to change the base flat foam to a 1/4” and it apparently works better without needing more pressure since they sit lower in the case. I think the downside with stuffing a 3rd row in is the foam will end up being perma-compressed if I leave it closed like that, so might not be ideal if I switch to something else or less than 3 rows.

After looking at the bigger Apaches, I’d rather stick with the smaller case and make it work.

I think most of the usual holiday sales events, especially around memorial/4th July/thanksgiving etc.

However when I checked history there were also deals not tied to a specific date I could tell. The % off varies as well.

Here you go. Valid until March 9th

APACHE 3800 Weatherproof Protective Case, Large for $29.99

I saw the same deal about a month ago.
Sorry, I just saw you were asking for 4800 & 5800.

Those aren’t on sale right now but I saw the 5800 on sale last month. You wanna wait for “Parking Lot” deals. Those happen about every other month.

If you get the app and do a search for “Apache” it will give you the current coupons that match the search.
