Not Mine Aransas Casino 1110 chip set for $1137.50 + $120 shipping (2 Viewers)

This guy is being an ass hat again. I asked if I could go back tomorrow to inspect them and get an accurate count and he responds

I think I reached that point that everyone else reached with him.:banghead:

If the money deal falls through id go anyway. Bring an envelope that looks stuffed full of cash.
Tell him you need to see the chips on the table. Once he has them out say “no, these are shit, not worth a dollar”.
Take your envelope and walk out.

With all the contact I’m sure he thinks he’s got something he can be a dick about. We need to groom him the other way, convince him of reality and that he has to deal to sale.

This is exactly the kind of situation where a group buy can use leverage to everyone’s advantage. I don’t know if the guy is being s jerk... it definitely looks like the barrage of PCFers contacting him is giving him the sense there is a vast demand from a market of excited active buyers. If everyone stayed calm and grouped up then everyone would be able to get cheap sets out of this. Everyone contacting him trying to do a better job are really just being counterproductive unless they are really going to pull the trigger on the full lot for themselves. But now everyone is going to have to stop contacting him and wait it out to let his hopes die out and then just have a single person go in and play hardball on a group buy.
100% agree and it's what I've done through my personal contact with him. At the same time I contacted him months (6-8?) ago when he had no viable bites and he was just as obtuse. So while the extra interest may have emboldened him, he is a difficult person on his own

Exactly what I was trying to say... but you said it better.
I've found @Eloe2000 has that ability... it's pretty great like the Key & Peele - Obama emotional interpreter or w/e the skit was called.

South Gate

I used to work in the area and lived in Downey.

South Gate is not the nicest area. From what I've read about this guy, no reason to think he's trustworthy. I would definitely proceed with caution and would never show up to his place with thousands of dollars.

Roulettes

So the owner emailed me back with a few pictures. Also said there were "tons" of roulette chips. Roughly 16,000 cash chips. The pictures look nice but it's only a few. I offered to purchase 1,000 chips of a mix of denominations so I could see the quality first hand. He said he would sell me his "normal" breakdown for $1500

$1=155
$5=390
$25=399
$100=133
$500=33
1110 chips

I let him know there was nothing "normal" about this breakdown. I offered a few tips to help him sell them. This guy is impossible to deal with. The chips are now in his possession in California. Only way we have a chance to get them to PCF is for someone to go to his place and buy them all if he will come to a reasonable price. I told him to call me if he decided to come down.

The guy just doesn’t want to play around with everyone who might take the chips if they can rifle through them and then go get organized afterwards... My opinion is he has probably given lip service to 50 people by now , none of which is coming cash upfront ready to pay for these chips.

Any update on this purchase process? Has anyone spoken with the seller again? Are we in the cooling period to make sure he doesn't think there are a bunch of interested parties? Or has he sufficiently pissed off everyone who has spoken with him that nobody wants to deal with him?

I would venture to guess the last line!!

Someone can more than double their money with this if they had the cash and ability to walk down their and strike a deal on the spot.

I'm about an hour away but don't want to deal with this asshole. Tempted, but seems like I'd be more likely to be robbed than walk away with chips.

The guy may or may not be a jerk, but if you went down there with cash you would walk away wit the chips in a deal. I think the dude is getting hammered from many angles and is responding by not taking people very seriously. But money talks. This is how good bargains happen.

You say that... but talk to him and I think you'll quickly see he's doesn't seem to care about cash on the spot type of seller :D

I haven't talked to him so I have no basis to argue. But if I had the cash and lived close by I would just head over there with the cash and let the money talk. I think its a real possibility that he is being dismissive about talking about cash offers, especially to a cold call over the phone. It is a bit more difficult to be dismissive of an envelope of cash.

It's also a great way to get shot and left for dead over round discs. You carry 10k to someone's door who knows what a crazy lunitic like him would do.

This is a well established public place of business with a showroom floor of antiques and goods. This isn’t the movies. This isn’t a drug deal in a back alley. It is how dead and trading works.

Why do you want to ruin my dream? In my mind there is someone in a back alley wearing a long trench coat, holding it open, and asking if someone wants to buy some chips. To sell the story, he is also selling chips that "fell off the back of the truck". The whole casino boat story is a cover up for nefarious dealings.

Also, he has a scar. And a cigarette that is half ash. And since it is California, he also has a guy who can get you plastic straws if you need those too.

/totally not sarcasm

The inlays don't look right to me. Undersized, stretched, unbalanced artwork? I dunno, reminds me of some bad BCC craftsmanship.

Haha, amazing. Paper straws disgust me. There has got to be a legit black market of plastic straws.

Pretty good deal on eBay chips too, plus covered by Paypal if things fall through
It's not the price that's listed. He said that was part of a promo no longer going on and the best he quoted me for 3,000 chips was $1.35/chip. My guess is that if you bought it via eBay (even with the terrible breakdown) he'd decline the order since he'd have to pay 13% in fees and another chunk when he recognizes the income.
