Was the bid of $2660 at 9:18PM valid? I thought the rules were that the auction closes 5 minutes after the last bid. The previous bid was at 9:13pm, hence at 9:18pm the auction was closed.

Doesn't change the winner, but just a clarification for future auctions. Congrats @StevenM

I have to disagree.

A bid time-stamped at 9:18 could have occurred at any time from 9:13:00 through 9:13:59. Thus five minutes after the last bid could be anywhere from 9:18:00 through 9:18:59.

IMO, with a clock resolution in full minutes, the only way to insure a full five-minute bidding period would be to allow all bids posted as 9:18 to stand.

Not allowing bids posted as 9:18 would only assure bidders of a four-minute bidding window.

Yeah, but only by disallowing the 9:18 bid does one ensure that the second bid did not occur later than 5 minutes after the previous one. And I think that's more in the spirit and intent of the rule.

Essentially, you have up to five minutes to bid before it closes.

I'm going to respond to this now, and I feel terrible if you don't get these because I had a TERRIBLE dealing with @brains613. We agreed on a sale for a bunch of chips that I believe are probably the same ones he auctioned off. It's a long story, but I had to borrow money from my girlfriend to make this happen. She then had to go through the trouble of setting up a new financial transaction account per @brains613's request. There were troubles with the bank transfers and other things she had to deal with, but after a few days and several hours of working on getting the new account set up, it was successful. After we did all this, @brains613 said his account was not working. I sent NUMEROUS messages to him asking for a status update and never received a reply.

Fast forward several weeks, and I see these auctions that he started with a similar story about family problems (if they are true, I am truly, truly sorry...but I am aware of the past story that a member gave to get extra funds over possibly false declarations, and I am becoming more and more skeptical). I reached out to him to see what was going on as my girlfriend still had the money set up in the account he requested. Again, no response. It was not until I sent a PM to him explaining that I was going to "out" him for what he did to me, to try to protect others on here, that he finally responded back to me. He asked how I wanted to resolve the issue, and I said that I just wanted to continue our deal after all the trouble my girlfriend had to go through to meet his demands. I was under the impression that he was going to make things right, but the auctions ended and I have not heard one word back from him.

So, if anyone gets scammed, please accept my sincerest apologies. I didn't want to "out" him if there truly were issues, and I guess I was naive enough to believe that he was going to make things right with me. I know there are some unbelievably great people on here (@liftapint, @Seeking Alpha Social Club, and @Thomacetti are the first that come to mind), but this stuff really makes me hesitant to deal on here. I really hope none of you get scammed with this whole situation.

While there was a little trouble with the payment method (auction stated Paypal, and that wasn't actually an option so we had to work out something else)....I received my chips from Brains -- timely, well packaged. It was a big transaction that made me nervous, but it all turned out fine.

I hope this gets resolved for you @StevenM. It sounds like better communication would definitely be helpful. But I really do think this is going to work out for you!
