No need for it to be bulletproof travel case, really just need it for storage, but I need a lot of them. Anyone have a recommendation for a case and a vendor?

Black exterior preferred, but not required.

Here's a nice picture of the president of Finland (shoutout to @Puggy) and his very good dog as an advance thank you.

View attachment 85802 No question, I'd go for these, just cause there's no stupid card comparents. They say 900, but I'd bet you get about 10 more paulsons per row, for a total close to 1000.
(No first hand experience though. Yet)

Appreciate the reco, but absolutely 0% chance I would buy them and risk less than 1000 capacity. Would just drive me way, way too crazy if I had a case with 900 chips in it.

FWIW (little) I am not a fan of anything bigger than the 600 chip capacity cheapo cases. Sorry not helpful.

If you have one you really like I'd still be glad to hear it. Could check for larger from same manufacturer.

You use these ever? Saw them but couldn't really tell if quality.

I haven't used this particular one, but I have a similar one that's on loan. IIRC it doesn't hold quite 1000 chips but did if I threw some in center card area. Not ideal. Also pretty heavy when loaded. You might be happier with the cheap Pelican knock-offs, and they'd be more versatile.

That's fine. Why don't you pm me your address? I have a drawer full of crappy paper cards I can send you, to fill those crappy card compartments.
Let me know if you need any dice.

If you plan on ever moving these around be very careful of thin walled cases. Large flat thin surfaces don't handle the weight of 1000 chips well, they will warp and bend. Just be wary of cheap construction with these types of cases, seams, handles, locks, etc.

Sorry not helpful at all but I can only warn you to stay clear of these things at any cost.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1000-Count-Rolling-Aluminum-Casino-Poker-Chip-Storage-Case-New-/282312450650 I bought 2 of these ^^^ a while back and they were POS. Came undone at the seams after moving them from room to room in the house.

Pelican case. Don't be a donk.
Agreed... "Once you go Pelican (or Pelican clone), you'll never go back".

Two model 1510's would hold 3000 chips and have wheels. Pretty sweet for your hoard.

This is sound advice for something for storage and transport on a regular basis

This is interesting because I have one like this form amazon (they have added shipping now so it is not quite the deal it was)

https://www.amazon.com/Brybelly-100...88835083&sr=8-5&keywords=poker+chip+case+1000

And while it leaves something to be desired it works for STORAGE....I handle this case with two hands because if you carry it by the handles they WILL FAIL eventually and fairly quickly. I use it to store my CPS Tourney set in and I am happy with for that. The rolling part of this case works very well that I have found, and I have used it to take the set to several locations already (in my vehicle NOT public transportation, I would not use this case for that)

The 1510 is definitely a better case, but if you are just mainly storing and moving around the house the brybelly case at a 1/3rd of the price does the job as ling as you respect its limitations

Thanks for the advice everyone. I definitely appreciate the benefits of a Pelican case and I have one ready for foam plucking, but I only need it for travel. These will literally sit in storage on shelves in the garage/closet, so I don't need to drop the coin for 15k chips in Pelican cases.

Two options, basically.

Pricey, but relatively solid: Versa 1000-chip case, $69.95 plus shipping:

or standard Chinese, but relatively cheap: Aluminum hard side case, $29.99 free shipping

I have one of the latter. It does what you want it to do.

I guess it also depends on how much you value the set. If you want the waterproof/bombproof abilities of a Pelican, than there's the extra piece of mind when storing in a garage/basement that they're a little more protected...insurance if u will.

For 15k chips there is a different $250 solution. :)

Thats why I asked how many cases you need because I was going to recommend a shelf. Costo sells a nice glass bookshelf for ~$300. Paired with trays and some LED lighting, I think you will be happier getting that vs 10 X $80 Versa cases.

Yeah, one extra-large lockable Sarge vs 15 cheapo cases ($450 total cost, minimum) seems like a no-brainer.

Feeling like I'm being unavoidably pulled into this ultimate solution. Helps a LOT that you can lock the drawers. Will need to scale back collection or buy two sarges, though.

Got link?

They are a bit of a pain to build but nice chip storage!

Can hold 12,600 chips so no need to scale back. Just store some bird cages on top. Better is 11,200 chips so only 3 racks deep in bottom drawer. Easier access.

Be careful of non-industrial shelving. Emptypocs had a horrifying shelf failure which he posted pics from back on CT. Thousands upon thousands of chips spilled out when otherwise solid looking shelves failed over time under the stress of the weight.

Sold. This will be my first purchase for the new place :)

"Honey, we need a new sofa, a new dining room set, and a new refrigerator."
"First things first..."

I bought another version of the shelf at Costco. I needed 4 big guys to help move it. I dont know what wood they use, but its insanely heavy.
