I've always found it difficult to remember to record hands during live poker so that I can review them later. I often find myself missing details or forgetting certain aspects of the hand unless it was the biggest pot of the night.

What's a good way to record hands during live poker?

I use Poker Analytics 6 for iPhone. It is the best among the worst. I tried many other others a few years ago and this was the best for me.
It has player notes, it has a simple click through process to record a hand while it is being played or when it has ended, it includes tracking position, chip stacks etc. It has all kinds of tracking. you can track player history, hand history, Profits/Loss (you can even add pictures of players) and you can also keep track of rake paid by you for every pot won. That is the item I enjoy the most. You can track meals, tips, etc everything needed for you when you file your W2G.
I have the pro version - if you compare versions or different solutions

So do you whip your phone out at the table and fill in the info as you are playing?

Oof, I hope not.
Most of us add it in right after the hand. Easy to win or lose, take a breath, then note what happened. If you get to the end of a big hand and can't recall the action that's something you should work on, its good to recall and check myself. Doesn't come naturally but a conscious effort helps me think through it.

I think an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure, as you're playing the hand, review the previous street and patterns then act, rinse and repeat until the hands over. If I get lost I find it easiest to work backwards.

While I am in the hand - I don't record, but when the hand is over - I put in the details if I need to remember the hand. The app has an easy click through process that guides you through the hand and the seats, you scroll through pre flop and click Fold, fold, call, raise (enter amount or increments of the blind that was bet, on the seat the players are in etc, then, when betting is complete it goes to the flop, etc. It gives you data similar to PokerTracker. The data is invaluable, and helps increase your ROI, although - let me be very clear - your milage may vary. Again, it is not every hand - just the ones you need to remember - if you are bored - you can enter as often as you want - building your database. But don't forget tracking you expenses and rake paid are also invaluable tools. The app can be setup so when you enter a card room location - it starts recording how long you have been and when you leave - so it reminds you to enter session or trip details to record profits/loss and expenses.

Funny response - that is a good one!!!

I was going to come out of retirement just for your game. (lol)

Make you a deal - How about this - to get back into the game - No phone use for everyone - but we play with my deck? (hahaha)

Serious - It was nice to be invited to the game, I would have accepted if I was there during the Winter months.
Thank you very much, it was a kind jester.
