'Bondesque' set without breaking the bank (4 Viewers)

More or less, something like this.
Keep in mind it's going to be a small mat, 120X60 cm.
I added the cards-underline even if there were none in the film for I like when people know where to place cards (rather than see them scattered everywhere)

Since I am lazy, I placed the factory sealed Cartamundi cards on the eBay rather than on the forum.
If you are interested, send me a PM

The mat is coming soon.

Here we go... My custom poker mat (up) and the one in the film (down).
Please note that I needed a much smaller one in order to play my games (1200/800 millimeters).
Here below just one more shot of my personal mat and chips

Wow.. looks legit man, super cool!

I'm planning on building a Casino Royale-themed poker set myself and I love this idea.

How did you make it?

1) THE CHIPS

You have two options: a poor man's one and a wealthy man's one.
The core of my set are two specific chips made by bullets cards in their CORRADO set (the blue chips and the pink chips). You can find those two particular chips in any quantity you need on Amazon. And then, you need to buy the remaining 100,000% kind of chip from Apache poker. NOTE: don't be fooled by the black chips in the Bullets cards CORRADO set; they are black and orange.
I am talking about those chips: buy the pink only. I mean, the black and orange is cool, but it won't fit a film's replica.

Another still of my set:

OR

you can rather buy all the three different types of chips from Apache poker (5000$ chips + 25.000$ chips + 100.000 chips).

2) THE ORIGINAL CARTAMUNDI POKER CARDS

The cards were a little more difficult to find online, but the truth is that there are still tons of decks out there. If you want, I am selling an original, still SEALED two decks pack (of course, used packs will be way cheaper). Search the eBay, you should find some options.

3) THE MAT

I ordered a custom mat from and aliexpress seller, and send them some files I found on the internet+retouching.
The logo on my mat is the original one (I found it on some promotional material file), and the characters are the true ones too.
Then we had to fix the character's sizes by hand because the spacings beteween the letters were a little odd.

Thanks for taking the time to break it down for me.

The Corrado sets were tempting but I found out it was actually cheaper for me to get the Apache chips if I wanted more than 300.

It's the plaques that separate the wealthy from the poor! $10 a piece, wow!

You have to be a high roller for real to get this many plaques on the table...

As for the cards, I have two DVD box sets coming in from eBay soon... Is your sealed pack made in Belgium? I would be interested but my budget is limited on that when I'm several decks in already.

Can you please DM me the aliexpress shop? It would make the process of customizing the size smoother with their prior experience. That mat looks good, how's it working out so far?

I made my set so I could recreate that scene from Casino Royale with 10 players with a potential 10 half-stack rebuys.

Yes, my sealed pack is made in belgium. Here it is ->

Regarding the mat, it's okay.
The cards fly very well, the colors are good, details (definition) is 'acceptable'... It's an 'acceptable' mat that I paid just 40$ shipping included (a ridicolous price).
Now they cost 20$ more...

Too bad I live in Italy... placing an order to apache poker from italy is extremely expensive. If you'll ever buy plaques, don't buy them from apache; there are people here that created a better replica.

Where can I get better plaques? My budget on them is not that big haha, I will have to buy more later.

MSK GAMING makes these plaques. As you can see, they are way more similar compared to Apache's plaques.
If you'll ever decide to order, write back to me; if we place a bulk order together, we are going to get a discount (and then ship the plaques to each others)

Just somthing to consider not sure if it is mentioned here already but again these chips are usually considered low end. You could consider a full face custom on the tina no mold chips with your own bond inspired design

thank you, but we haven't this kind of money :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:
I found a solution for this problem: I have never touched a Paulson chip in my whole life, and if I'll never will... I will never miss it :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Now really: when talking about materials, Apache's Casino Royale are a little better than Bullets cards ones.... I told everything

Apache's supplier is indeed MSK.

I found out that to get them directly from MSK in South Korea is even more expensive!

:(

This is very interesting. I just asked how much for 20 plaques (half million $) + 10 (1 million) + shipping to italy = 500$.
Do you think Apache would charge for less?
I see no custom options on apache website...

Apache 500k = 9.99 USD
Apache 1 Mil = 10.99 USD

MSK 500k = 10.75 USD
MSK 1 Mil = 13.1 USD

Seems like it's roughly under 500 for me as well for that amount... Apache would cost me 380.

For you it depends whether shipping is cheaper to Italy from South Korea or the States.

wait... The issue here is I don't want Apache's plaques.
I want the good ones as made by MSK and according to the way a guy in this forum modified them (see photo 2)

Oh... I understand now. OP's mods look very nice indeed. I sent them a message asking for more info but they haven't replied yet.

The MSK's just got more interesting now. I hope we can help each other out here but how would the group buy work in our circumstances? What kind of discount do we get?

I have thought about using a custom manufacturer on Alibaba to see if they can make a faithful reproduction (if only we had the vector file for that, lol.) Would be amazingly cheap. What do you think?

P.S. I also found out Apache does not ship CR chips to Canada :cry:

I will have to find some way to get 600 of them here... although I'm off to a good start thanks to a lucky find on eBay...

Very good find!
I don't know how much the discount from MSK can possibily be... If it's good, guy #1 creates a private eBay sale for still-unexisting plaques.
Then guy #2 buys the plaques from the eBay, and then of course, guy #1 places the order to MSK for both his own plaques, plus guy's #2 ones.
This is a good way to get eBay protection. It's going to cost a little, but we don't know each others. I think it's good to get some kind of insurance policy.

Since when does MSK give discounts? News to me.
I'm skeptical, especially since we're not a casino ordering thousands from them...

BTW, I was just looking at your set again and sifting through the design thread... I must say it's a job well done!

I wasn't really sure what I was looking at the first time around but I understood it to be the Casino Royale set as close as you can get to it with the higher-end chips, with some personal artistic license.

Love, love, love that you got enough to recreate the insane $10 mil starting stacks + $5 mil rebuys. 10/10. How does it play?

I'm at a decent start with 75 x 5k, 75 x 25k, and 50 x 100k. Looking to add a lot more to recreate the deep-stack look for filming, using it as a hybrid T5000-Tourney/cash game set.

How did you decide on how many of each plaque to get? I was planning on somewhere around 30(500k)+10(1mil) to 40(500k)+20(1mil) but usually I see people get plaque denoms in roughly equal amounts, am I missing something here?

It played well enough at a smaller 2MM stack. But the real test will come in a future full 10MM, 1000BB charity game.

I literally got as may plaques as I needed to finish off 150MM in tourney value. I have 200x T5k, 200xT25k (all these will be coloured up), 400x T100k, 60x T50k plaques, 70x T1MM plaques, and 10x T5MM (non-canon) plaques.

If msk uses the same price for 30 plaques or 60 plaques, that would Surprise me

I bought 140 plaques over 3 denoms, and as far as I know I paid full price for all. If they discounted anything internally, I am unaware of it.

Yes, they do give a small discount for larger quantities, but it's not mentioned anywhere - you just get a quote per piece which will differ depending on the quantities.

Hey, I'm going to jump in here, because I want to build a CR set that I can use for tournaments. So I'd just think of a T5 based set and translate this into the higher denoms, right? So a T5 chip is the 5.000 chip for this set and so on.
T5 = 5k chip
T25 = 25k chip
T100 = 100k chip
T500 = 0,5M plaque
T1000 = 1M plaque
Normally in a T5 set, we'd play with 100BB, so 1k starting stack. This would only be 1M for Casino Royale, but I do want to play 10M and 5M re-buy option. Do you guys start 5k/10k blinds nontheless and just increase the blind levels at a higher rate/pace? I don't mind the tournament lasting longer than my usual tourneys, this adds to the CR theme, maybe you could let me know how you go about this or if you have any experience with the 1000BB starting stacks.

Regarding chip quantities, my table holds 9 players max and I'd cap it at that, no MTT. I have no clue about T5 starting stack breakdowns, I only play T25. How would a 10 Mil starting stack look like, how would I color up the lower denoms.

Thanks for input

Yes, for a T5000 base set like these, you just use a well-established T5 base set and progression and just multiply all denoms by 1000. Fairly simple.

I colour up the T5000 and T25000 with all T100000. You shouldn't really need to colour up very much after that until your blind levels reach 500K/1MM and you have some spare plaques.

@Ghost_Writer_WL @ChipOnMyShoulder
I might be interested in ordering a bulk from msk as well. I‘d be willing to act as reshipper, seeing that one of you is from Italy. So only one international shipment to Canada, makes it easier.
If we could agree on a design, we could see if it’s economically viable for us to join forces on this. I assume we all want the most screen accurate plaques.
