I meant low risk in the sense that it is probably not super hard to cash it without getting caught. You could just wear a mask, change your eye collar with contacts, a bald cap, wig, and backpack with a change of clothes. Hop into a 2/5 game where you'll be able to get $100's and it won't raise suspicion. When you're done playing put 1-2 $100 chips in the middle of the barrel of $100's that way when they rack check it they won't notice the fake. You'll wanna put it 7-9th or 11-13th in the barrel so that the cage employee won't catch it when they rack check nor will they catch it when they go to break the stack down for the camera. Then hit the cage and cash them out. If you're super sketched out then you can change as well. It's gotta be much more difficult to do it with $500+ because very few people will be cashing a barrel of $500 without raising some red flags. At the end of the day if you can purport yourself to be a high value client the casinos will give you more leeway on that, but a $10k washout is gonna raise some flags. I imagine for $500+ chips it would require a team effort with a player acting as the big player or something. The tourist hustle is the real game and the risk on that is infinitely lower. Since it's not illegal to own or sell the chips I'm not sure how LEO would be able to arrest you unless you sold one to a narc. If a tourist called the cops I'd just deny until I die lol
Sounds like you've already got it planned out, hahahah!

How many extra chips did yall buy to account for edge misalignment, blurry prints, etc?

On my most recent order, I ordered one more increment (since it was via a group buy and thus restricted to 25x) per denomination. This resulted in ordering 1,400 for a 1,200 set.

My Aria’s set, which was my previous order where I did no extras, was 800 for 800 in terms of edge spot alignment. There was the occasional blurry chip or spinner, but the amount was so low as to not really feel bad, especially for price. I feel pretty confident with the above order that I will fairly easily end up with 1,200 perfect chips after sorting through.

Hi all, have been doing some design on AI myself for submission to Tina for my hybrid set.

Wondering if anyone has tried to do the "handmade" bearclaws effect, as seen on many Paulsons.

Reason I ask is because I'd rather not have the edge spots to be too straight.
If anything, its more of a "beauty in imperfection" kinda thing. Wabi-sabi ;)

Effect I'm trying to achieve

What im doing on AI now, is to manually blot using a paintbrush, but im wondering if there is a more natural looking method?
Or is Tina's coloring mechanism going to take care of this effect by itself?

Just some details I'm looking to refine for my first customized set, appreciate any opinions/input!
Thanks in advance, TGIF!

I did the faux bear claw edge spots on my ceramic hybrid chips.

I’ve done that pattern on a few chips. You can make the spots more “organic” in shape, just keep in mind where the spot meets the edge of the chip…you want to make sure it still aligns with the spots on the rolling edge.

Just wanted to answer this question directly - Tina's printing process will not create the effect by itself/for you. You'll need to design the effect yourself as you've been doing.

I think I used the Roughen effect in AI when I was messing with it (Effects->Distort & Transform)

I love the Mirage tributes I got - so much love for your work @Colquhoun

+1 for Roughen effect.

At first it was too crazy of an effect, but I dialed in better settings by making the size between 1-3 and the detail between 7-15. Depending on the shape these settings should create the effect you’re looking for without having to do it manually.

Wow thank you all for sharing your individual know-hows.
They were really helpful, and will go far in my designs for my new set.

This worked great for me!
Found that size 2 and detail 10-13 worked best for me.

Another effect that complemented this effect is the Free Distort effect. (Effect --> Distort & transform --> Free Distort)
Allows one to customise the distortion manually, found it to be useful at times ;)

Just be very careful that the effect doesn’t change where the spot meets the edge of the chip, or they will not align with the rolling edge spots.
And you should make your rolling edge spots wavy as well.

If you want chip templates, many chip and edgespot designs can be found here:

Thanks for this, I stubbled on this previously, have been using this along with a template that Tina sent (no edgespots tho)

@Colquhoun do you mind sharing the template for your bearclaws edgespots pls?
saw you mentioned that in the post above
For me, I tried using the roughen effect, but was never able to control it. I end up doing all my edgespots manually with the pencil tool, and fiddling with the smoothness of the pencil.
I also keep a database of edgespots I've done for future use. Who wants to do that twice? :ROFLMAO:

Does anybody have more info regarding plaques? I see there are four sizes listed in the original post, but nothing about pricing/minimum order amount etc. Has anybody ordered them? I saw TX_Golf_N_Poker's post back on Nov 2, 2022, but couldn't find any more pictures beyond that.

I designed a $25K Stardust plaque for @triton and then a $5K one for a later run. The plaques come out very nice and colorful, and even can have art on the edge.

if you don't mind, what was pricing like?
I don't recall pricing. Sean will know on these, but to be clear, these are ceramic plaques and are different from the Aria's plaques that I was going to do a couple years ago. And never got around to finishing. :(

I had the pricing from that time period listed in a Group Buy post that I started. I don't have time to look for it right now, but let me know if you can't find it and I'll try to locate it.

I've never been given a MOQ for the larger items. Have ordered as few as 3-4 plaques or 2-3 DBs. Something like $3-4 apiece.
