What kind of Cards do you all prefer for you home games? Poker Sized or bridge sized. Also what brand do you prefer?

You should use the search function. There are probably a dozen threads covering this exact topic.

Bridge size is preferred by most.

As long as their jumbo index I don't really care.

I know you've said before, as others have said, you like them because it's easier to see the board from seats at or near the end of the table. I understand this, and I will probably personally need it as I get older and my eyes degrade, but man it sucks playing games with more than two hole cards. I wish it would be possible somehow to have regular index cards in your hand and jumbo index on the board. My local tribal casino switched to jumbo index in the poker room, it's painful trying to peal hole cards, got to go deeeeeep to see all four at once.

I read people's opinions here, and started playing with only bridge cards, and convinced myself bridge size was the only way to go.
I even declined to buy a deck I really wanted, because it was only available in poker size.
I've recently played with poker decks, and decided I like then just fine. I guess if I had to list a preference, i'd still go with bridge size jumbo. But I'm just as happy playing with poker jumbo.

I think part of the equation is are you playing Hold'em or SOHE?

Squeezing two cards I prefer poker size. When I have to squeeze six bridge size please.

Fair question and good point. My group plays Holdem pretty much exclusively - something I've been trying to change with no success.

Yeah but dealing poker size cards just feels weird. Not sure why. Holding them and peeking is fine, but sliding them on SSC across to the other table goes smoother with bridge cards IMO.

bridge/regular. i like Copag and Kem. Have tried Bicycle Prestige and Modiano and wasnt a fan. Last time i was at a casino (many moons ago) i remember liking the cards but i cant remember if they were Gemaco or Piatnik

I am thinking about ordering some more piatniks from my contact if you want a setup let me know. I can get more of the Bridge sized international index setups for a decent price if you want to try some.

These are both decks of poker-sized Copag 1546, one jumbo index and one regular.

I like that it is easier to peek at hole cards, in terms of lifting the corner less, with regular index.

The biggest difference to me is that regular index cards have more room in the middle for the pips, which makes them easier for me to see and identify from afar. Looking at both 4d - if I go far away or squint to where I cannot read the corners, I can still make out the shape of four diamonds in a square pattern on the regular index cards.

Anyway, I know my preference for poker/regular is not really common around here but those are a couple reasons I like them.

I have a smallish deck collection of bridge cards from trips and used casino decks. I bought my first Copags last week and went with poker jumbos. I need to get a night to use them.

I have the exact opposite opinion. Bridge-sized definitely flips in the air more often when pitched to the far ends - which is what you'd expect from the physics. The wider card, spinning, should be more stable than the narrower one...

If you were to walk into any casino card room in the US, there is a 99% chance they will be using bridge sized cards with regular index. There is a reason. Bridge size is by far easier to manipulate and large index often annoys players as they need to spread the cards too far to peek at their hand.

I personally have never seen poker sized cards or jumbo index used for poker in a casino in NJ or Vegas, but I imagine they are used in some room somewhere...hence my 99%. Poker sized cards are for blackjack... ironically.

I have 24 two deck set ups. All are bridge and only 3 are large index. One of those was shipped by accident and I bought the others for my home game with my father in laws friends who are 70+ years old. That said they never complained about the regular index.....I just thought they would like them better.

I suspect card rooms and casinos use regular index for the sane reason they use that godawful security ink red - to reduce the chances that somebody else will get a good look at your hole cards.
I don't share their concerns, especially not for home games. It's your job to protect the identity of your hole cards and if you're being sloppy with them, you do so at your own peril.
I'm all about large index (and bright, honking red ink) so I can get a good, quick look.

I've played with both, and honestly am good with either. I prefer poker size, but I also like 5 card draw...so we all know that I'm weird. That being said, I'm just happy when there are cards around regardless of size.

We are using the poker size with dual index ( the peek index in the corner), people in the group are used to the peek now, you barely have to lift the cards to see what you have which is great on a full table. So we are now "stuck" with poker size, since the only cards I know of with peek are the copag dual index. Personally I can play with either and have both setup.

i like both, sometimes poker, sometimes bridge size, depends on how many people are playing the gale, and how big is the table. We use jumbo index or the dual index if there are 8-10 people playing and bridge size with regular index if less than 8 people. Jumbo index is very useful to see the cards on the table for people with bad eye sight as well as dual helps you to peek on the cards you have if you sit close to your opponents.
i have tried a lot of different brands.. and i like KEM, but it is impossible to find it in EU, or it is way more expensive than the other brands. I was lucky to get my hands of casino grade Modiano poker size cards as well as i like copag cards. 100% plastic all the way.
