Looks like the 3 of clubs don’t match. One punched on the pointy end and other punched on the roundy end. What do I win
So upon research there is the right number of cards but tons of the same cards and some missing completely, so I'm like why would they do this... Then I seen this

Oh yep blackjack cards you can tell because the J in the upper left is closer to edge than the numeral cards. For the dealer peek

I never new that, why on Earth would they box up bj cards, seems completely worthless, unless they were giving them away at gift shop or something. I was gifted these from a friend...

Some casinos are kind enough to resort them into a complete deck. Can you post the Ace pip? I’ve always found those peek mirrors interesting

Typically casinos do one of three things with used cards.
  • Box them up to be destroyed.
  • Transfer them to the card and dice unit of Security (to be inspected, drilled, cut, destroyed, and occasionally sorted)
  • Repackage them at the end of the night for donation/gift shop sales purposes.
I've worked in casinos that will in fact sort each deck at the end of the night - but that typically only occurs to verify none are missing, or if the gaming commission requires it. Each property varies with their procedures.

Some of the casinos would donate used cards to the military. When I was in the Navy we'd get a box full of casino used cards every 6 months or so.

Do you know that some producers sell to casinos peshuffled decks...

I bought a box of 12 decks of pre shuffled Gemaco cards unopened on eBay years ago. From a defunct cruise line I believe. They are nice for paper cards.

One place that I dealt, dealers sorted cards into individual decks when tables closed, then they were punched and donated to old folks homes and vfws, etc. Some were also sold in the gift shop. Odd that these were sold without sorting. I've got a feeling they were supposed to be sorted and a dealer said, "F#@k it" and just boxed them up.

That may not be the case. I’ve dealt in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. All three states had different requirements. The most lenient of policies was Oklahoma (IMO) as it was a tribal property.

I’ve been sitting at a Three Card Poker table where they took a couple decks out of play, the pit boss marked the edge with a black marker, and just gave one to me right there. I was a bit surprised.

yeah cuz you could shave off the black marker but this is also why you're not allowed to touch cards at blackjack

Wow! Where was this? That seems off for sure.

In Kansas we had to deal double-deck face up as the state won't allow patrons to touch the cards --- in Blackjack.

Not sure if it is a Nevada requirement to sort and box, but they did in Wendover. Pitboss would almost always let us leave with 2-3 boxes each (12 decks each). We use new decks every night at friends and neighborhood game and have never had an issue with missing or duplicate cards.

I have yet to find a real security issue in using hole-punched cards when they were punched all together in the same box and tossed at the end of each night in play.

I would definitely prefer being dealt suited Aces to suited 3s! ;)
