Chip guide and CC&GTCC issue (1 Viewer)

Look at this example, Chip guide is using NGCB data for colors, but Chip guide is too lazy to write full color names The actual colors are Day Green /Royal Blue, Arc Yellow unless NCGB was lazy and only listed base names, but I've seen them list actual paulson color names before, but this chip was 1987

NGCB lists insert colors of Blue & Yellow.

When looking at the Chip Report of the NGCB, it really seemed like it was hit or miss on whether the chip description included 1) the chip color and 2) if it did , how specific the color was. I would suspect the report just included what the casino put down on the Chip application or request form so maybe it wasn't required in the early days? Maybe it included a sample or mock up picture was included for the board when they review it, so maybe they didn't need the description to be detailed? Either way, the NAGB has suspended the publishing of the Chip Report in late 2021.

As far as the above chip, here is the Chip Report. Yup it lists it as green, blue and yellow. If you look at some of the other chips above, colors are not even listed.

Whereas I think it would be great for all the entries to have the exact color, most people that submit to the CG does not know the Paulson chip color names. I doubt if more than 10 people on the Chip Board has a Paulson Color sample set. Whereas on PCF there are tons of folks that have at least a partial set.

Bottom line, most PCF's care, most single collectors do not care. If we really want to have better color descriptions, the collective "we" at PCF will need to
do it ourselves. How? Click the "update" bottom and suggest to update the colors. May take a long time, but that is the only way I can see it happening.

thanks for the info, I thought that might be a possibility on the NGCB report, way back then, I guess our chip data base has to be the go to, if we can get color info correct

So exactly WHO was it that suspended the publishing of the Chip Report in 2021 ?? Perhaps a minor Freudian slip of tongue was made up ^there^, lol. Autocorrect would be even funnier  :ROFLMAO:

Although in reality, it wouldn't surprise me if the NAGB influenced the NGCB decision to limit the amount of publicly available information regarding gaming chip details.

Good catch there Dave. LOL. totally missed that and yeah maybe that was the case.

Here's one that frustrates me, are there two different $5s? Doesn't seem like it, but what does the chip really look like?

Less snarkily - Chipguide usually makes two different entries when chips have different molds, and here they've got one entry for a chip with SCV and a separate entry for a chip with SCV on one side and LCV on the other side.

We know that any THC chip can potentially be a mix of SCV and LCV, and that Paulson doesn't distinguish between them. So from Paulson's perspective, and from the casino's perspective, these are "the same chip". But from a collector's perspective, they're different - or, at least, some collectors might think of them that way. I wouldn't classify them like that, because from what we know of the way Paulson makes chips, any THC could potentially have three separate entries in order to be complete (SCV, LCV, and SCV/LCV). But that's just me. Who's to say that what Chipguide is doing here is wrong?
