We just got the event room cleaned and tables moved. Going to unload them and start up horse racing. Lol.
11 horses numbered 2-12.
Everybody kicks in an ante of the stakes you’re playing for (we were doing .25)
Entire deck is dealt out (minus Aces and Kings) as evenly as possible to each player.
Dice are rolled four times until four unique horses are “scratched.”
The first horse rolled costs each player .25 for each of that horses card they have, then the cards are discarded, so $1.00 goes into the pot in this case.
Repeat for the next three scratch rolls, with the second horse costing .50/card (+2.00 to the pot), third horse is .75/card (+3.00), and final horse costs 1.00/card (+4.00).
Now everyone has cards representing the remaining seven “live” horses.
Dice are rolled in turn with the result either A) moving the corresponding horse one step, or B) costing the roller the scratched horse’s value (.25/.50/.75/1.00) which is added to the pot.
Keep going until a horse crosses the finish line.
Pot is split between all players with one or more of that horse’s cards. Single player might have 2 or 3 (or all!) of a horse’s cards for increase stake in that horse’s payout.
Great mindless fun. Much degen.
