I did some searching but haven't found anything concrete... Does anyone know what happened with the Rounders / Roman mold, and why it is out of commission and its future is "undecided"?

Thanks in advance.

My understanding is the mold just is pretty much dead. After a certain point they get so overused that the yield is too low for a mold to be serviceable anymore. The MD50 is flirting with being at that point now.

Suggest checking the CPC post by David at CPC. Multiple references in that thread, and others, to the status of various molds. Roman mold is a no-go as Senior Arbol indicated, just not serviceable anymore.

I have a set of 700 Roman mold chips that I bought about 9 years ago. It's a very cool mold.

Lol @ Senior Arbol

I have a 1000-chip set of them I ordered in 2007, right before the mold was retired. The first iteration had extreme thickness problems and spinners. Quite a few of the chips had to be made over. The mold was the problem for ASM/CPC which required they throw away a lot of chips during manufacturing.

Lol @ Senior Arbol

I also misspelled senor (senior!) which is even more LOL!

I have a small sample set of these from...gosh...2003 or 2004 and, while they look amazing, they feel and sound lighter to me, as other people have also noticed.
