Deadman's Bay - Peter Island (Empress Star Relabels) - Cali Cash Set Pr0n (2 Viewers)

So now that the Empress Star chips have been posted in public, I wanted to go ahead share my cali cash relabel set for those who might be interested in seeing it.

The set is a tribute to the island where @Mrs. Bentax and I spent our honeymoon back in 2002. Peter Island is a small private island in the British Virgin Islands, and Deadman's Bay is their main beach area. Sadly there are no casinos anywhere on the 1800 acre island.

The inlays are Bellagio tributes, with the "B" watermark replaced with a silhouette of the island itself. I thought the dark gray inlays worked well with the bright colors of the chips, and the Bellagio inlay is one of my favorites. In hindsight I regret not making an attempt to be more original, but I'm happy with the way they came out.

Denominations are as follows:

$1 chips are Empress Star T500 tournament chips
$5 chips are Empress Star T1000 tournament chips
$25 chips are Empress Star T5000 tournament chips
$100 chips are Empress Star $1 cash chips

Meh. Set still needs some green nickels.

Got a couple racks of ES2T T25 you want to sell ;)

I had considered the Aztar $25 818 chips, which work well in terms of the bright colors. But they're now part of my soon to be complete Aztar cash set, and I'd prefer not to have the same chip in two sets (especially as different denominations).

One of the Condado Beach $25 chips is 818 and would work, but I'm assuming getting a couple racks of those might be pretty difficult.

If you have any other (green or other) suggestions, I'm not dead set on using the gray quarters. I do love the gray casas themseleves, but I don't think the darker gray labels work as well with them as the other denominations.

Nickels?!?!?! Nickels?!?!?!? Are we talking about nickels?!?!?! :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO: You don't need no stinking nickels!!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Them quarters look awesome Dan! Very well integrated with the rest of the set. Really well done...

LOL, I lack basic reading comprehension this morning. I thought Dave was suggesting a green quarter (as an alternative to the gray quarter).

LOL!!! I thought it was weird you were contemplating a nickel, so that makes sense.

I really like the gray Casas on that spot... The AS2T 25s would work great on that spot as well... The issue with using green there is that almost every set has a green chip, meaning you already have many green chips around. The second issue, regarding specifically the AS2T 25s is that because they were bought in sets, it would be super hard to find spare racks, as you pointed out. People would have to break down sets to free them up...

Some of the new quarters.

That's how you do it!
Prefer the larger label to the inlay replacement (or mill out to the recess edge as Dave suggested.. always wondered if that could be done successfully).

How bout a $20 or $2 chip... :whistling:

I'm hesitant to use a chip I am already using in another set, especially when it would be a different denomination.

The only exception I've made so far is using the AS T5 chips as both Aztar $5 as in their original form. Given that the AS T5 might never see the felt (I almost never play tournaments, and if I did it might not even be T5 based), I was ok with breaking my rule.

Plus it was hard to argue with the results:

Nah, the converted Casa quarters look great. (y)

I just thought that a heirloom set should also have a microstakes chip (5c) for those times it gets used at family reunions and holidays. Great for teaching math and analytical skills to the kiddies without them risking their lunch money or busting grandma's retirement income. :D

EST2 T25K chips would be perfect, but good luck finding enough spares - very few of those were made. However, I probably have a few Aztar $25s I could contribute to the cause. :)

Good points, though by the time you get down to those stakes, I suppose I could use all the chips as cents instead of dollars. Of course then I might need another rack of $25 and $100 chips for bank  :whistling:

I know, they would have been sweet. I had traded a bunch of allocations (and some physical chips) to get 3+ racks of T25k. Of course none of that happened and I ended up with zero in the end (but later was able to pickup two EST2 25k chips for my sample sets). C'est la vie.

A great set just got a little bit better. Congrats on your vision and execution. These are Hall of Fame bound for sure.

the pink chip should be a quarter, the green one a $2 chip and you should grab some PCA $100 sec to make some $20.
That would be a hell of Cali custom set :p

I originally had the PCA $100 planned as the $20 chip. But in poor light the dark blurple $1 (T500) was too close and could potentially be confused with the black PCA. So I opted to go with the less conventional fuschia $25.

YESSSS. If you don't mind me asking. How and where do you get Silhouettes like you used? Finding clip art without a background has been difficult for me....

The letters are Book Antiqua, the numbers are Trajan Pro.

As for the silhouette, I think I just grabbed a image of a map of Peter Island and used the outline to create the silhouette image in Photoshop.

Bellagio chips are what got me into chipping, and I've been thinking about going with a similar thing. Here's a sneak peek. I'll finish up messing with the back ground, positioning and text to get a mock up, but then I need to find a better program for designing. This was done on chip lab and I can't crop just the inlay out..
