My friend just gifted me his DM1 that he’s had for awhile now. It hasn’t been working for some time. I’m fairly lost on where to start besides that it seems to not be feeding the cards. Any help would be much appreciated!

Okay for starters you need to adjust the rollers to your specific cards you will be using. Read the guide. Specifically the roller sections and also download the manual and read the section about adjusting the cards. For a free Deckmate it's in really good condition and the rollers look great!
Passwords in the guide it's the same for all Deckmates. I think 12332
Are you using full poker size cards or bridge? Your Deckmate is set up for bridge size right now.
Yeah first set the roller height which are four screws that control the height of height of the hump piece in the middle. After you loosen the screws place two playing cards that you will be using in between the adjusting roller. Apply medium to light downwards pressure then lock down the screws.
Then go in and do the auto adjustment in the menu section.

It was hardly ever used to be honest. Rather than messing with the adjustments. Perhaps I’m better off ordering some bridge sized Kem playing cards that it’s set up for? I know it was working with them. It’s possible a different size deck was purchased and the previous owner didn’t realize an adjustment was needed.

Every deck is different and very possible that is the only issue you have is just adjusting the card height and using bridge size. Either way the height always needs to be adjusted manually if you switch decks and then auto setup will need to be performed.
Going back and forth to bridge and poker size and as easy as just removing two guide bars. Totaled of 4 screws and like 20 seconds.
Setting the depth height is the most basic maintenance thing you should learn if you are going to own a Deckmate. Aside from just wiping the rollers occasionally with isopropyl.
I really should do a video on it but never got around to do it.

I read the service manual and didn’t see anything about adjusting to bridge size. I did adjust the height with the two cards as directed. If you message me on YouTube, I’ll Venmo you to FaceTime and walk me through it.
You have to add the spacer bars. But the card thickness is probably what’s getting you.

It does seem like the issue is the brake roller is set too low which is keeping the cards from being able to pass. I took a screenshot so you can adjust it.

I pretty sure PCF gained like 4 members because people found this thread on Google. Just wanted to update seems to be a very common that particular cards do not work so well with the DM1 if you have worn or used rollers. Seems to be the trend right now if you having trouble after adjusting. It's most likely the deck you are using.
Last week I spent maybe 8 hours trying to diagnose a Deckmate someone sent me only to find out that it just needs fresh rollers. We were trying to use Faded spades and they are thick! Working on trying to get a whole roller kit but it's a process. I used Justin's mis print deck and they shuffled 50x no jams no issue.
Thekoc had a bad sensor #4 cable so he just needs to replace that along with a gear that was cracked.
Then we have rampant who had the same issue with the particular deck he was using however his rollers still looked fresh but for sure maybe a decade old. So maybe the grip isn't there anymore to use bicycle paper cards. He switched to copaq cards and it's been going good. We video chatted and he got a good quick tutorial/walkthrough on his Free Deckmate. Lucky guy

Anyone in need of a full roller change? I will probably be changing out another member's deckmate with an OEM Roller Kit from Light and Wonder next week, and if anyone is looking to try an aftermarket roller kit purportedly superior to the OEM one, I will provide the free labor if roller kit and shipping are covered.
I am looking to do a comparrison between the two kits but my deckmate doesn't quite need rollers anytime soon.

Also if you didn't see my post about Ideals shufflers on eBay. It would be a great alternate shuffler for anyone who is doing a "side cart" shuffler and not looking to mount into the middle of their poker table. It can be partially mounted but the wheel would be sticking out the back but for 2500 ish it's a great buy!
Are there any instructions on mounting the Deckmate 1? I am going to mount in a side table. Can't tell if you just cut a hole big enough for the main part of the machine to slide through and then have the lip around the top sit on the table or if there is any kind of mounting bracket that goes underneath. I have a Shuffletech and they make a specific bracket to hold the weight of the shuffler. I am not finding anything similar in searching for Deckmate mounting.

Welcome to the DM1 Community! Congrats on your Deckmate shuffler! I think the only person I know who has done a self table mount it is @Buge so hopefully he can chime in and give his experience.

Yeah my understanding is just use the cutout size and drop it in. The top lip portion of the shuffler holds it in place from falling through.
For anyone who was on the fence about the my earlier recomendation of the eBay user gk0187 we finally have a confirmed purchase from @buckeye09076 which is good news for us because now we have a good source for the DM1s at a fair price $4500. It's good for me because I can keep building the relationship I have with him and get the parts I need when I work on shufflers for members here. So feel free to name drop me "Mike from Texas"

Very nice. I am thinking of a drawer unit that encloses the bottom. I would modify the top 2 (or 3) drawers to be false fronts or very shallow drawers for stability and looks. A little worried about heat (didn't realize the DM1 has a fan that is always running) so thinking about putting some computer fan mesh covers on the back then mounting a couple of computer fans into the side of the cabinet. I have a Shuffletech in an Ikea cart now and the setup works well, but I don't think it generates the same heat.
Why not put the deckmate directly into the table?
One reason is I use folding tables so would have to pull in and out all the time. I don’t love the idea of cutting a hole in either of my main tables. I also don’t love that the bottom of it will be in the knee area of people sitting by it. Persoally I think it clutters the table top some. I also run two tables sometimes and like having the shuffler between the two tables. I have a Shuffletech that I have been using in a side table and am used to it. The cabinet I got for the DM1 was only about $100 so if I change my mind I can move shuffler to table. But if I don’t like it on the table then I have some work to do filling the hole. So I’m starting with the side cart. Might change my mind at some point.
Fair point on the folding table. That might make me consider having it on the side in a cart. But once you have it in the table you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it from the start. The group of us that have them here had a couple of machined aluminum plugs made for the event that a machine goes down and we gotta do some work on them but still need to have the table in use. Pretty much just looks like a deckmate top that’s non functional.

This is the second Deckmate I have received from someone on here to fix. So I guess this mean I'm running a Deckmate repair shop? Lol
Again this isn't my full time gig I am a hobbiast at most but glad to help anyone in need and because of this I don't set any prices or expectation but I will not turn down a tip. As long as shipping is paid both ways I have no issues taking on these side project.
This Deckmate was dropped. (Another reason not to have a side table not mounted) A few other things were misaligned and the screen was shattered. I was able to ship this out same day I got it. I just had to donate my screen and wait on a new one to come in for my personal shuffler. It just goes to show how well built these things are.
I would never want to drop my personal Deckmate but good to know that it wouldn't be that bad to fix.
The first DM1 I got for repair was from @Vinyard His entire shuffler was a hot mess. Rusty screws, warped rollers, and a loud squeaky fan that was unplugged. I'm not sure how long its been since someone opened his shuffler but It was not by the people who sold it to him as "refurbish". He got this included with his table buy from BBO for about a few thousand more then what's current market price now. I installed the a brand new roller kit from LNW and it ran like a dream. There were a few other things we replaced and got it working but just makes me dissapointed that some of these vendors are pushing these deckmates but have no clue what's going on inside and charging a premium. Then the support or warranty they provide is really worthless. So be careful when you buy these "Recondition" shufflers with Warranty/Support. Ask for pictures of the rollers from the sellers.
I still haven't ran into issues with this DM1 I couldn't fix.

I used the shuffler for the first time on Friday night. Was working fine until about 3 hours in. Then I got the dreaded "Remove Cards" message even with no cards in it. I unplugged it a few times and it worked again. Then about 10 shuffles later it did it again and I couldn't get it to reset. Next morning I took it apart and unplugged and replugged the #4 harness. It has worked fine since then. I don't want to take the chance that it fails again during a game so would like to replace that part. Can somebody who has done it provide a link to that correct part? I see back on post #17 that LowerBama1714 is showing a part from digikey that looks like it is just the connector. Is that all that needs replaced or the entire wire setup?
