When I first started buying chips I thought I would be pretty content with a couple of plastic/ABS chips just to fidget and play around with, but it keeps getting more expensive and every time I see new chips for sale I just feel the need to purchase, I think I'll never be satisfied any more to be honest.

Right now classic poker chips have some cool designs like the Atlantic Club, and custom designs sound pretty fun.

It never stops

I think there's probably a decent chunk of people that manage to grab a nice set or two from here and then get out.

But the mere fact that you're asking this probably means that you're one of us, not one of them.....
Well, I placed an order for the web mold , that’s going to take a while. Now contemplating purchasing something quicker to hold me over.

Let’s see. I’ll probably own a few sets to say the least. It actually will depend how regular our games remain.

I got to this forum looking for way to mod my Barrington table. That was a week ago.

I’m halfway thru finishing it from what I saw on this forum, told my wife I’m gonna get some chips and she’s like why, we already have chips LOL
I also arrived here researching how to modify my Barrington table. Now I own 17 cash sets, 7 tournament sets, a hot dog roller, some nacho cheese dispensers, an ultrasonic cleaner, a bunch of DBs, cut cards, and god knows what else, and a whole lot less extra cash than I used to have... that was the long answer. The short answer is no... it never stops.

Chipping is like playing RPG

Collecting sets is same thing like collecting equipment / Pokémon, you be constantly upgrading your equipment / Pokémon by getting better sets as selling the lesser / beginner set as you move on the chipping journey

Literally, I had the mindset where I didn't need expensive chips because they would all serve the same purpose, but after handling Paulson chips from closed casinos I couldn't look at my plastic monte carlos anymore

I joined in 2021 when I stumbled into the forum doing internet searching to find chips to add onto a set I bought in 2005. I ended up getting a cash set through a combination of the classifieds and Apache. And then I stopped. I used the cash set that I bought and didn’t log onto this site for several years. I had what I needed……

……until a month or so ago when I got some new games with some new groups and needed some different chips. The password to my PCF login still worked and somehow I now have another 2,000 chips and am building 2 limit sets and a custom set branded to the golf club where we are getting together to play now.

I’m hoping to go into hibernation mode again after finishing these projects and then selling the chips I bought and didn’t end up needing, but I’m in a lot deeper than in 2021 so not sure how this ends…..

Jim recently posted a 19yr commemorative post for pictures from all of his sales. Of course a member posted a picture of a single table tournament set which I also possess. I am still resiting the need to contact that member, not even to ask to buy the chips....but to reserve first notice at such time as they decide to sell them down the road. I can already field 10 tables from the set but another single table set would allow 11... also OCD demands I collect the whole set....still wondering how big it ever was, and hoping I am at least close or half way of what was on the actual casino floor.

It never stops, I am flush with enough sets, now they just grow bigger through add-ons.

Hi, I’m Jim - I’m a chip-a-holic. I haven’t bought a chip in two months - is there a chip for that? It’s been a journey of 17 years and I still come here every day. Right now I’m doing ok, but I cannot say it has stopped for certain. I could fall or jump off the wagon any day. There are many like me here who suffer just as I do. Please leave before it’s too late!!

It should....if I had playable cash cet of GN with lots of 100s I would stop

Like my entry into all of this - it ends in Despair...(and a few more thousand newly acquired chips). Hope to see you on the other side.

I feel your pain. The search for the perfect chip set is endless.
I guess this is what I was beginning to realize, but I did not have the strength to admit - This Never Ends...

What have I gotten myself into?
Is there anyway out?

Troubling development I find myself in. I came for a Cali set of Tigers, meant to be an in n out situation (40th birthday present to myself).
Couldn’t understand the chip valuations at the start and thought people are insane here. Well i now have a decent working Cali set of Tigers but before I’ve even got them back to Aus I’ve purchased a SINGLE for more than my first cash set I have at home. fml

I’m still wanting to expand my Tiger set but don’t actually have the fomo urgency I had at start of the endeavour. So maybe it’ll eb and flow.
