Curious how many significant others play poker with them, or at least deal with it because you like it. Mine wants no part and I get eye rolls when I mention it now lol.

Over It Eye Roll GIF by Friends

She likes to be a host with me (set up and cook) but doesn’t like to play for money. She doesn’t like it when I play too much, but is down to play with friend and family for fun lol so it’s a very interesting relationship with poker

My wife loves playing and is a better tournament player than me. She does pretty well in cash games as well and we both occasionally play in a league. We host several times a month as well with neighbors and friends and she pushes that to happen more often than not.

Where I get the eye rolls is when more chips show up... lol. Although she does love playing with nice chips and appreciates them.

If my wife ever got into poker then I caution everybody in the city to protect their money. She is the biggest luckbox I have ever encountered. Never have I seen so many full houses and straight flushes made in such frequency. A calling station that just keeps on hitting and hitting and hitting.

Wow! Not only can I relate to everyone here who's hobby is being a poker chip fanatic. I'm unfortunately not alone in my vote in this poll. I'm thankful for this support group..... since obviously our significant others aren't as supportive or willing to participate in our enjoyment of chips and games.

Mine doesn't play, but is happy when we host. She has been on good terms with all of my players for many years and is genuinely happy to see them. She just doesn't get the whole poker thing.

She is also happy when we host cause that means she doesn't worry about how my drunk a** is getting home afterwards.

My wife is @travelgirl and you can see her playing and her trophies in just about any meetup thread we attend. I’m very lucky in life, not just because she’s a poker player either!
She should be posting that you play with her, she's a stronger player than ekricket :wtf: (and me!)

Some guys go out on a Friday night and come back hammered and the next day is ruined. I go out and come home sober and she takes a cut if I win, she thinks of it as a win/win and I think of it as a win/win. Poker never takes priority over something else social. She does not play but is happy that I play and get my social time as I'm a social animal.

Mine is good fun to have but plays on house money, so I try to break even after she loses some. She's been getting better though; she can spot when I'm holding back or going easy on people. She didn't know what it was called but asked why I was calling and losing more after the river than usual, and I was proud she spotted it! Just one of our $10 beginner games where I decided hey, if they have it and they're learning to actually bet I'll give it to them.

The wife loves that I host and enjoys the social aspect as much as me. When she comes down to talk to the players she knows, I heckle her and tell her if she wants to talk she has to pony up some money and take a seat. Then she can talk all she wants. We usually have a seat or two open so an additional player always helps.

She never uses her own money net for buy-in. Always takes off my stake like Worm, but with no noodle bar comp.

A few times she’s made a profit and never gives me my money back.

My wife has played with me for over 20 years. We hosted at our house for over a decade so it was natural for her to play instead of standing around. We both grew up playing card games of all kinds so poker wasn't something completely foreign either. Lastly, our group consists of alot of couples so 30%-40% of our players are women. My wife isn't super competitive so she doesn't look forward to playing cards as much as visit with old friends at this stage of our monthly games.

My backer is a terrific player but certainly more of a tourney specialist. She’s way too busy to sit for many of the Friday Weeklies but will on occasion. She gives me great respect which is why I don’t mind her passing on the cash games, which she’s not a fan of just the same. I don’t like winding up at showdown with her and betting to her fold.

Tourneys though? She will get you.

Many pots and almost 30 years ago.

I’m really working on this.

After 10 glorious years of marriage, after asking my wife for probably the 100th time, to play heads up poker with me, and I got a

“That sounds like a good idea, ya we can do that maybe”

Man, I’m feeling positive she might just pick this game up. I don’t know, in the past, it’s been a pretty firm NO.

Be careful what you wish for. I’ve never won a heads up match against my backer. Whether it be back in our bar games, at the end of a tourney we hosted, or some blizzardous MN day… I can’t beat her. She’s too patient and she catches cards right about when I decide to get squirrely.

Seems like the best move here would be to throw the match either way.
