So I’m new to collecting and really like the look of the dunes from Apache poker and was going to order a set. Just curious if anyone on here has a set and what they think of them. I’ve watched some videos on YouTube but always like to ask for some info and new to the forum so might as well chat with y’all.

I think they’re tight and priced good. Probably going to add a 400 chip set to the rotation after I recover from my daughters wedding.

Yeah, I was going to say get a sample as well. If you like them then great! The design is one of my favorite on Apache, but the value number is a little too small for my taste. Again, I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't get a sample! Good luck

For me, once I realized that most samples are quite cheap I just started buying them left and right

Sample is the way to go as everyone have different taste and react differently.
Unless you are buying Paulson/CPC etc which I think it's perfectly ok to buy and try out. You can always resell them back at cost if you dislike them

Appreciate everyone’s reply I just ponied up and ordered a 500 set if I don’t like em you guys will see them for sell lol they look great and hear good things so. Cool little tribute piece my grandparents loved the casino back in the late 80’s early 90’s so they even thought it was cool lol

+1. They came quite a bit dusty/chalky and to me, they felt much better once cleaned and oiled. Was surprised how much of a difference they made not just in look but feel. Initially had some buyers remorse but glad I put in the work to get them right.

How durable would you say these chips are? I saw that video on YouTube where he crumbles one in half with his hand. I’m really considering these as my first chip set or a group buy order of those card molded stardust chips but the wait time is making me hesitant.

Will never be an issue under normal circumstances.
Side note: I had the nexgen dunes (from spinettis) and much prefer the feel/sound of the china clays (from Apache), closer to real chips.

i have a set of the Dunes replicas off ApachePoker ... no regrets with the purchase. They're a really nice chip at a good price, & the nostalgia/history aspect about them is cool too.

Just posting a pic as a fellow Dunes CC lover. Mine are in rotation along with a Paulson set. Dunes always get high compliments.

Thanks for showing these stacks - they look great. I see that Apache only sells these in multiples of 25. You have barrels of 20 here. Silly question - are the "extras" off-camera somewhere?

Thank you. Yes, I’ve kept a few spares and sold off some extras as samples. (If your set plans for denominations in quantities of 25, there are no leftovers.)

How does the height of a 20 stack blue versus red compare? Is it a full chip height difference or less than?

this depends on which "manufacturing run" of the chips you get. from what i have noticed, the newer made chips are a smidge thicker than the older chips. Regardless, a cool set, imo.

Between the tallest ($5’s) and shortest ($20’s), about 1/2 chip height difference per barrel. See attached pic. These are current version chips.
