I've got the custom bug and starting to think about a custom cash set, probably 8-12months out. This is going to be a bit of a favorite chip homage set with a few fun tweaks. All of the chips but the $1 are pretty much straight duplicates (wish CPC had an 8v spot), with the $1 I wanted something in the colors of the Bicycle $1, but I love the half pie simplicity. Also, repurposing the Mapes $1 as a $20, just because I love it. I'm gonna need to get ahold of a CPC color set, not sure which yellow to use for the "Bourbon St" $5.

UPDATE: This is final artwork and colors. Changed the denom colors for better contrast, updated location, and nailed down the reds and blues for edgespots after playing with color samples for a long time. Pulling the trigger this week!

Here's the original with an "oak tree" $100, but Rainman thought it might get mixed into a dirty $5s stack as there are some similar colors.

Here's a revised one with a Binon's T100 color scheme instead, which I think ties the $1 in better.

One thing to consider is that even though you may love all of those chips individually, you have to make sure they work as a set. My first impression is that it's a lot of yellow across the line up. The second lineup tones it down a bit with the alternate hundo.

No problem using favorite chips in your set, just don't get too fixated on the individual chips!

Fully agree here.

Also, always use some kind of inlay in mocks, even if they're plain white or black. It will give you a much better idea of how you like the spots/design as a whole.

As an alternative, consider the following...

I feel like the colors here flow a little bit better from the frac through the $20. Then for the $100, if you don't like the Bourbon Street nod in that position, you might consider going with an oversized A-mold order or a plaque as the hundred and scrapping the Bourbon Street all together - because to me, that's the one that throws off the balance of the rest of the set in your original line-ups.

I don't know what it is..but all of a sudden I am itching to customize a set as well. No idea why!

Didn't realize the Binions T100 actually has a charcoal base, who knew?

Getting closer I think. I like the idea of every chip sharing one color with one other chip, I think it helps tie the set together without any color being too dominant. Thoughts?

I think the canary color in the chip tool is really making everything look weird, it feels darker and more retro yellow than I think it is in person...

Upon request - a couple of renders ...

And a more neutral one where I turned the lighting 30° anticlockwise to move the 'warmth' off to the right.

Gotta clean up the rolling edges of the B-Mold soon. Too many/too large cracks and dents.

Wow wow wow! This is simply stunning and invaluable. Thanks so much Rainer! :D

My, what a difference a few revisions can make! This set is in a vastly superior place from when it started, as is common with the iterative creative process. As a whole, the set has a much better flow and feel to it, both with the spot patterns and overall color choices. At first glance I was skeptical of the mandarin red/dg tiger spot combo, thinking it might not offer enough contrast, but I got out the samples and I think they'll work just fine.

The only think I'm seeing right now that might need a tweak is the inlay. I think the tire needs shifted down a bit (I think it exceeds the soft "grace" boundary of the inlay), and even if it didn't, there might be just a touch too much space between the words Bicycle and Shack. If you narrow that gap just a bit I think your set is ready to ship! Nice work!

Thanks for the feedback! I think I may go with DG peach instead of Tiger, and maybe retro blue on the $100, but I'm waiting for color samples to nail down the final colors. The artwork still needs a little refinement and finalizing this weekend, then we should be close!

I was about to say, is this ready to ship? Looking good. I second taking a look at DG peach as well. Waiting for the samples is the right call!
