eBay Buyer Beware (1 Viewer)

I actually remember this listing. When I saw it, I noticed that the estimated "counts" in his description didn't match what was in the photos.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Paulson-chip-set-/222113553564

To be fair, the pictures do show

425 - Even Stevens $1s
786 - Par-a-dice $5s
381 - Par-a-dice $25s
155 - Aztar $100s
---------------------------------
1747 - total chips

His listing states
A used Paulson chips set that consists of four different casino types .
500+ even Stevens 1$ chips
800+ par-a-dice 5$ chips
400+ par-a-dice 25$ chips
175 casino aztar 100$ chips
------------------------------------
1875 total chips

So, you got 1747 chips for $1038.75, or about 59 cents per chip. They're probably worth about $1 to $1.25 per chip after you remove 3494 stickers and run them through the ultrasonic. I'd estimate you could sell them for around $2k total if you get the right buyers. So, you'll still net a little over $900. Not a bad pickup if you don't mind the elbow grease.

But that's complete bullshit that eBay removed your negative feedback

Ok Rainman just reminded me of something.....my kijiji score.
(Disclaimer: please do not interpret this as anything else than me trying to be funny :))

The reason I hate eBay is this f'n bullshit "Global Shipping Program". Most US sellers have no idea how it works for non-US buyers. Basically it allows Pitney Bowes free licence to gouge people for mediocre shipping service. They charge "import" fees which are described as customs but are never collected by our border services. When I inquired into getting a receipt as to exactly how much duty was paid eBay gives me the around.
"Well Pitney Bowes has nothing to do with eBay"
Yeah, fuck off! You gave me the same line when you said way back eBay had nothing to do with paypal!
eBay rolled out of GSP on an opt-out basis. Which means it was enacted to all US sellers without letting them know. They just said "Hey, the deal is complete! Just mail the item to Kentucky for $2!"
On my end the invoice says this:"congratulations! You won the item! Here is your total: chip $3, shipping $16 + $8 import fees....."
Eat shit eBay!

eBay name: Quicksilver-75 :P

You're right @RainmanTrail , it was a great deal. My OP however wasn't about that however. It was about the fact that a seller can elude a partial refund simply by ignoring both me and eBay. To me, that's crazy.

I think the fact that he didn't even write me back forced my hand. Most people would just move on without a wimper. I'm just one of those guys where a deal is a deal. If a mistake is made, no problem - just don't ignore me.

...and removing my feedback, yeah that's ridiculous.

...fwiw, it's going to take all summer to get these labels and residue off. Still, I'm pleased. I actually like the par-a-dice chips.

If stickers tear or have lots of gunk when trying to remove them, try using Goo Gone - yellow colored liquid adhesive remover. I don't think it will damage the chip or colors, but test it first. Try a drop or two on each the sticker, let it soak in through the sticker and around the edges for several minutes, if it works, the sticker should remove nicely in one piece, and maybe the residue, too. Chips may still need cleaning with soap and water to remove goo gone smell.

I believe that eBay removes negative feedback when you file a claim. Once the claim has been opened, the matter is deemed "unresolved" and therefore it is not appropriate (in eBay's eyes) to post negative feedback for something that is still pending resolution.

Yes, it sucks. Doubly so because as far as you're concerned the matter has been resolved - he did not write you back so the seller has essentially "closed the book" on this deal. I would notify eBay about a week after opening the claim that you have made every attempt to become whole, and he seller refuses to return messages, and the deal is now done, and they can close the complaint. You should then be able to file the negative feedback.

No, they're coming off rather well with a blade. However, it still takes about 1 minute per chip on the labels, plus residue removal, plus ultrasonic, plus oiling. But, thanks for the heads up anyway.

I understand the gripe: a seller could pretty easily angle the system by sending fewer sprockets than advertised if the selling price is still a good deal with a few fewer sprockets than listed in the auction. Then the buyer can either accept the good (but not as good) deal with the fewer sprockets or send all the sprockets back to the seller and get a refund."

Sprockets!!!
