Even when Vegas does reopen, poker will not. (5 Viewers)

Someone need to suggest a giant poker table with chairs six feet apart. And ultrasonic card shufflers.

For the Twitter deprived...

Different than other plexi-contraptions.
This set up is just sitting on the table with no permanent fasteners. Which means it can be removed, with no permanent damage to the tables, in about 3 seconds!

Caesars has also opened their card room, to much less fan-fare. Players and staff are required to wear masks. They will replace decks every 4 hours, and chips will be cleaned every 24 hours. At the writing of this post (Noon, Vegas time), Caesars has 3 tables running 1-2 NLHE.

In contrast, Bellagio has 7 tables running, Venetian has 8, while the early to open South Point and Orleans have 12 and 11 tables respectively. Downtown only has one poker room open, the Golden Nugget with 6 tables up.

Bellagio is the only Vegas venue allowing 6 player max. They are also the only room that has not announced a reduction in the rake.

next couple weeks will be interesting. vegas is trying to re-open, but other states that rely on tourism that opened are seeing a surge in cases (lookin at you FL).

Arizona's University Medical Center Tucson has 19 COVID patients in ICU. Their ICU maxes out at 20 beds.

If you are going to Tucson you better do it soon! Get that last bed before it's sold out!

Nevada Gaming Commission is finally getting on the ball...

From the LV Sun
Nevada gaming regulators have ordered all patrons wear face masks at table games where there is no barrier between the players and dealer.

"This requirement applies to table and card game players, spectators, and any other person within 6 feet of any table or card game,” the Nevada Gaming Control Board said Wednesday in a notice to licensees.

I have been developing increased reservations about visiting Vegas, because the number of people not wearing a mask. If the choice becomes mask or lockdown, why do people take actions that favor another lockdown?

I should forward this to Gilpin County Health

We won't even be able to see the true spike in Vegas. None of the cases contacted there by non-locals are reported there. They are all reported in the home state of the visitor.

Sahara reopened their poker room last night.

They will have very limited hours of operation, 6p - 2a. Still, this is relative newcomer to the poker world. SLS did not have a poker room, and the Sahara did not open one until January, so basically it's been closed for COVID longer than it's been open. Good on Sahara for giving it a go.

Casinos are bleeding huge money right now. How long can they continue?

If banks aren't willing to take a hit to their quarterly or annual growth then every single business, large and small, will eventually succumb to these economic conditions.

If we learned anything from 2008, it is that banks are absolutely not willing to take a hit to their quarterly or annual growth

I told my wife a few weeks ago that over the next few months we'll start to see the impact to businesses. It's already started with bars, gyms, and our preschool just started a gofundme. If anyone could ride the wave, I would think casinos with a massive amount of money could. If Vegas starts starts to go belly up, man is that frightening.
