Even when Vegas does reopen, poker will not. (6 Viewers)

Have you guys caught this podcast by GWAE ? That entire episode was with the General Manager of The South Point, Nevada and went into detail about many of the considerations they have to grapple with for the reopening :-

Of note at 16:53 were their discussion of what to do with sanitizing the chips. Short answer, they are not doing anything with casino chips because they have not found any pragmatic way of disinfecting chips in a casino setting. Instead, they are limited to getting players to sanitize their hands after they are done with a session.

At 31:30 they talk specifically about opening their poker room and what is expected of players. And it appears they are also limiting it to 5-handed as many other casinos which dovetails with what Poker Zombie posted in an earlier reply

Harrah's in Cherokee rolled back out the video poker tables according to a buddy that went last week. Fugg that.

Detroit casinos to reopen without poker.

Future visitors to the three Detroit casinos will be required to wear face masks, submit to temperature checks and be prohibited from smoking, playing poker or eating at the buffet, according to reopening guidelines approved Monday by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

I'd be fine if smoking in the casino floor was perma-banned...but if there's no poker, there's no reason for me to go. Frankly, with the home game scene, I haven't been to a casino in several years.

Back to normal. Only masks in sight (at least in the pit) are on casino staff, not customers. Protocols are being strictly enforced........ let's gambool. :nailbite:

JFC. Only see one person playing wearing a mask, one dude touching his face and those slots are packed.

I guess if you gamble your money away it wouldn't be enough anyway to pay for a five figure hospital visit when you get Covid.

Maybe they're all Canadian?

I would suspect tournament chips could become available from more places as their only application is for poker vs cash game chips (other than possibly $2 or $3) can be still used for table games. Maybe not from Vegas due to their regulations but other casinos out there.

Paul Allen teased this afternoon that the pit at Canterbury may have a "soft open" over the weekend.

"Now playing heads-up is The Mask vs Turtleneck II. Finishing 3rd on the bubble was, uh, Bubble-Boy...."

Fourth place was The Invisible Man:

(I took this picture on a job site the other day.  Can you wear a getup like this now to hide your tells?)

It would depend on surveillance standards and the temperature of the room, but just wear a burka and sunglasses, you ain't getting shit on tells from me. Only the best tryhards of $1/$2 NLH will dare to try that out!
