I guess most of them are similar to paulsons shapes, but it would still be awesome to see some photos. Some good old shaped inlay pron

I haven't done a great job of keeping a portfolio of my work, unfortunately. There's some good stuff in the Testimonials thread though.

Not really. For faux shaped inlays (i.e. printed) we can print whatever shape you can draw, so having a listing isn't helpful. For milling, we can cut whatever shape you can draw as long as it does not have sharp inside corners.

So yeah, I'm not trying to be an ass. Here's a better answer...


I don't mean to be vague or mysterious about answering the question "What shapes can you mill?" In fact, quite the opposite! Rather than listing a few shapes and then repeatedly answering yes or no to "what about this shape? what about that shape?", the best technical and complete answer that I can give is literally "Any shape you want, as long as it doesn't have sharp inside corners."

It's like asking a house painter what colors are available. You can have any color, as long as it's possible to mix it from base colors. What shape do you want to mill? Any shape you want, as long as (say it with me now!) it doesn't have sharp inside corners.


What's a sharp inside corner?
Basically any corner that comes to a point, with the adjacent sides between 0 and 180 degrees apart.

The reason that sharp inside corners can't be milled is that the tool is 1/16" in diameter. This means you can't make a cut with a radius any smaller than 1/32" -- and sharp inside corners don't have a radius at all.

@Gear Am I the first person that wants to remove an inlay and mill a chip? Is that a thing, or can it just be milled with a larger recess at the $1.25 price as if it were a hotstamped chip.

I know you are swamped with pms, but I figured I'd ask the question here as well as on, because the answer might be useful to others.

Plus I'm in Vegas for 2 more days and I was considering shipping you 2 racks before I fly back to Australia.

Sorry...that is what I meant. Definitely mill...but with a giant shaped label.

I haven't tried that, but it might work, since there is a relatively large amount of "blank canvas" to work with. It would be a bunch of work though. Definitely would need to remove the inlay first, so this would be some Frankenstein hybrid of inlay remove & replace with hotstamp milling (and likely a higher cost, as well.)

This is my eventual plan for Empress 25s. The timeline’s getting longer and longer, though.

To clarify, you want the Inlay removed (milling is just for hot stamp chips).

- suitable for inlaid clay chips

Paulson chips ... 2.00 USD per chip
TRK chips ... 2.00 USD per chip
ASM/CPC chips ... 0.75 USD per chip

Includes:

• inlay removal from both sides of the chip
• new laminated labels
• application of the labels
