Favorite Car You've Owned? (3 Viewers)

I've had two that I really loved;

The first, was my first car, a 84 Honda Prelude. Fire Engine Red, 2 door, manual 5 speed. I got plenty of speeding tickets in that car, that I almost lost my license before I turned 18. Unfortunately, my senior year of HS, I was rear-ended & the car was totaled, but that was a fun car to drive.

The second, was my last car; a 2004 Lexus LS430. That car was loaded & just a sexy vehicle! I got several compliments on it, and I felt like a king driving around in it. Unfortunately, about a month ago, I got caught in a bad thunder/hail storm, leaving work.
I was caught in a low lying area, that got flash flooded, and water ruined the engine & got in the interior. Between the engine, hail, & water damage, the car was totaled.:(

I have grieved for my loss, but the good news is; that the wife & I get to go new car shopping this weekend!

It's hard for me to decide which of my cars were my favorite. Just this year alone I've had a Durango, Ram, Audi A4, Plymouth Duster, and a Magnum RT.

My top five would be:
1970 Plymouth Cuda 383
1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340
1992 Dodge Stealth RT- Twin Turbo
1999 Jeep Cherokee with 6.5 inch long arm lift and 35's.
2001 Audi A6 4.2 V8

1969 FJ40

We had a 76 FJ40 with a 350 and it was so much fun. I'd probably take that thing back over any car I've owned. They are either hugely expensive or rusty in the midwest so I don't expect to own one again anytime soon.

Lol, I LOVE your avatar, I just rewatched that skit (and shared it with a coworker who had never seen it before) yesterday! After the game, Prince served us pancakes.

WTH they cut the end. The whole thing is here but the audio is jacked:

Why it's hard to choose: I've owned a lot of cars. Most of my vehicles, (year of acquisition in parentheses):

(1962) 1956 Dodge 2dr ht -- back yard cruising/radio-listening car only, since I was only 15.

(1964) 1957 Plymouth Belvedere convertible, cream with red interior, 318 V8, 4sp.

(1964) 1963 Honda Dream 250, red.

(1965) 1964 Corvair Monza convertible, dark green/cream top and interior, 4sp.

(1979) 1979 Chevy Suburban, 400ci/auto. Horse/racecar trailer hauler.

(1979) 1979 Mustang Cobra convertible, silver/black, 302/5sp.

(1981) 1980 Triumph TR-8, aqua/tan (later red), 3.5L/5sp, Holley 390, track prepared (ex-Group 44).

(1981) 1981 Honda Accord 4dr, 5sp.

(2001) 2001 Aprilia Falco, metallic red, 998cc/6sp, current.

(2001) 2002 BMW 325i 4dr, sport everything, grey/grey, 2.5L V6/5sp. (current)

(2002) 2002 Honda 919 (CB900F) #114, black, 919cc/6sp. (current)

(2008) 2007 Yamaha C3, silver, 50cc/cvt (current)

(2013) 2013 Mini Roadster S, Florida blue/black. (current)

As you can see, I've always gone for low weight and great handling. Higher powered cars would have just made my license disappear faster.

Somewhere in there were also three extended length vans, for hauling stuff. The last one was a 2008 Ford, 302 V8, sold last year after the move to FL.

Wow Larry, not only an impressive list of cars, but an impressive memory!

Current car - 2014 Hyundai Sonata. For those who aren't 20 feet tall, in the arena of current retail vehicles, in the category of "most all-around driver space," at the top end you have 3 or 4 different models of Mercedes and BMW (all $50k plus) and... the Hyundai Sonata (and yes that does include large pickups, SUVs, etc.)

If you are within the normal human size range, there are other vehicles that are pretty much strictly better. But it's the only vehicle I've ever driven that isn't excruciating after about an hour.
Funny, one of my co-workers is 6'8, and he too drives a sonata. I drove him once in my jetta, and he looked like a normal sized person riding in a power wheels car.

Penn Jillette is 6' 6", and until recently, pretty husky, and can afford any car he wants. Drives a mini cooper and a VW bug last I knew. Said they had the best headroom he could find.

I would have thought my 1998 BMW Z3 convertible would be my favorite. But the damn thing has leaked since the day I bought it (used, in 2004). Has caused endless problems.

So my choice is clear...my new 2017 Toyota Highlander easily rises to the top of my favorite cars that I've owned list. I can haul just about anything in the cargo area, great towing capacity for my boat, comfortable interior, incredible leg room for passengers in the back, sufficient technology (and amazing upgrade from my 1998 4Runner, obviously).

I LOVE IT.

My wife and I have 2012 Highlander, and we love it! (It's the car I drive every day). We will be getting another at some point!

My two favorites are the two I regret selling now. As a sophomore in HS I had a 1955 Chevy Apache which was fully customized. I am sad to say I sold it to get a car I really wanted. In hindsight it was a dumb move but still another great car. With the cash and a little extra I purchased a 1980 L82. Those were my two favorites which were both owned back in my High School days.

My favorite to car to drive was an Audi A4 2.0 Quattro. Handling was amazing!!!

Took it on a road trip with my wife where we mostly drove back roads through Kentucky and Tennessee and it was a blast.

The maintenance costs on it got to be outrageous as it got older though so I sold it and have a Honda now that never seems to need more than an oil change every 6 months.

Wow nice list. You have had three cars that my Father also owned - '67 Alfa Duetto, Pantera (my Dad had a '74 then sold it for a '85) and the 82 Accord that he took over payments for his girlfriend who couldn't afford it or something. He also had a '69 Camero SS when I was a kid.

My favorite vihicl I owend was my 1978 Dautsun pick up, then I bought my 1993 Jeep wrangler...

Now its my 2015 Dodge Challenger, I love this car..Just picked it up about two months ago and it only had 12000 miles on it.

I am likely dumping my 2015 MDX in the next 4-9 months.

Things I love:
Lane assist
Adaptive cruise control
3 cameras
Countless sensors
Collision avoidance braking
8 air bags
Quiet cabin
Comfortable seats that are heated and ventilated
Great tow vehicle for the jet skis.
Has built in cell phone that calls 911 in case of accident

Things I hate
Speech recognition sucks
Navigation system sucks
Phone integration is mediocre
No parallel parking assistance

Anyone know of a luxury SUV that has all the loves and gets the hates right?

In 2015 when I bought it I liked it more than Lexus, BMW, Volvo and Audi. Now I'm wondering if anyone has caught up and passed it by.

The Audi Q7 hybrid has all of that and more.
I really love driving it.
