FDLmold: Rat Rod mixed .25/.25 and up leaded THC poker set (1 Viewer)

Okay I don’t know how I missed this thread before this week but I’ve since read through these 2 pages like 3 times.
@FDLmold this set has just latched into my brain and I’m obsessed with the idea.

Small dilemma. I experimented shuffling a leaded house mold into a leaded THC batch of chips. It flawlessly joined them. Diameter and chip thickness are an exact match, and good house molds have a "mold rim" equal to or exceeding the mold rim of a THC chip.

Yay or nay, adding a few high quality house mold chips to some denoms is a good thing?

That excalibur $5 is stunning. That house mold is shockingly underrated. But no, I don't think house molds belong in this set. I guess the question is, just how ratty do you want to get?

I was struck with the idea of doing a set exactly like this today, and was directed to your set by a friend as an example of it being done before. So damn cool! I'd *love* to play with a set like this.

I've decided that I will not pursue house mold chips intentionally. BUT, if the right deal comes along for say a Bicycle Club $1, or a leaded Caesars Palace $25, I'll happily add such a chip to the set. We will call them the easter eggs of the set, hidden like Hot Coffee in GTA. The deal on this Excalibur $5 was very good, so now it's joined the set. I can throw him out any time. But like most of his friends, there are zero, or very very few, sets that use him. Casino chips deserved to be gambled with, not hermetially sealed in cardboard slips or airtites in a binder on a shelf!

As long as you can come up with a rule that justifies it fitting in your set, then it fits in your set.

Have you ever had a rack of 99 chips?

No, you haven't. Because if you had 99 chips, you didn't HAVE a rack. It's enough to trigger OCD even in people who've never had it, I imagine.

#99 arrived this week. #100 is not on the horizon or my radar. But I'm sure it will turn up soon. Because this bothers me! :D

I spy with my eye an Empress twenty five :)

More pron. All the South Dakota $25s, except Nugget, which is a multi hundreds of dollars chip. I like posting these because they make @ReallyGoodUsername a little jealous, and that's hard to do! :D

You don’t want to make him mad. He’ll be hunting even harder for what you’re looking for to keep them away from you now!! :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:  :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ninja::ninja::ninja:

Top 3 chips are all second copies. Bottom five are new. Now that I'm allowing a few house molds into the $1/$5/$25/$100 denominations, there are some real THC-like beauties out there. The 1980s and early 1990s Atlantic City chips, the clay ones anyway, have some great house molds. The Trump Plaza in the middle is just a super chip. Shuffling it in a stack with other leaded THC chips, you can't even tell a difference. It clearly belongs.

Also nice is the Glitter Gulch. I'm under $15 for that one. They seem to be much more common than Chip Rack would lead us to believe. Somebody found a rack I'm guessing. Or more! And that Golden Nugget WA chip is the last WA 50 cent chip I need. There are others, but I'm skeptical that they are leaded, so I will pass on them.

Wow... just wow! As the owner of a 31 Vicky ratrod, your title drew me in and your awesome set and collection has me absolutely obsessed!

I am newer to chipping and while I never had a desire to use actual casino chips in a set except to murder and customize them (which I am in the middle of), seeing what you did with your ratrod set is truly inspirational and the one way I would want to (and now want to) do it!

It would definitely be a set that is only played amongst good friends as with all those unique chips, you have to make sure none of them walk away.

Someday I want to do something like this! It is truly an amazing and one of a kind set!!

I'm at the point that if you end up with extras you don't need, PLEASE let me know and I will probably take them off your hands. I am infatuated with what you have done!
