FREE loan of Paulson clay and Bud Jones plastic samples, especially for new chippers! See inside for rules.... (3 Viewers)

Really? No interest from any new chippers at all?
I would love the opportunity to check them out and pass them on. Not sure if this is still active but if it is I would love to check them out. My experience has been ABS, Milanos and CPC. Just ordered my first barrel of Paulsons (Cherokee Harrahs) that are supposed to be here by Friday or Saturday. This is a great idea. Could save people a lot of money and time (buying a bunch of ABS and china clays thinking they are "real casino clay chips" only to find out they aren't and realizing all that time could've been spent acquiring quality chips.

Edit: I am in US.

I am also in Toronto and would like to join the queue. Thanks!

CANADIAN LOANER SET

Again - THANK YOU to @allforcharity for doing this. Thank you @HeresyReznor for sending the chips down to me from up north... you can all read my review somewhere on page 4 of the thread.

The CANADIAN SET has been personally dropped off to @roddy - kinda got lucky that he is basically a 20min drive away from me in the Big Smoke here in the 6ix (Toronto).

As far as I know @allforcharity there is no one waiting in queue here on the Canadian side.

Thanks!

Whoever is finished with their USA set first, either @Rebelwork or @Kyglockster , please contact @rxed for mailing address details.
Please post here first before sending PM, so the other knows which one has made contact first. The second can sit tight until another signs up.

If any Canadians want to see the available set, please post request here and contact @roddy for mailing address details.

Thank you to everyone who is keeping this chain going. Please feel free to encourage other new members and interested parties to sign up.

I'm supposed to receive the set Tuesday. I'd like to check it out for a day or two and I'll send it on if @Rebelwork hasn't done so with his.

Thanks again.

No rush. Feel free to keep it a week or two if you want. Give yourself a real evaluation period. Come back to them after a day, look at them under different lighting, weigh them, sound them out. Anything short of physical/chemical damage.

Oh I could never damage a chip. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks again for doing this. Really helpful to newbies like myself. Glad people are keeping it going and staying honest. It says a lot about this community. Cheers!

Yes, as @davethesave says, the set was hand delivered to me last week!

Some brief thoughts:

Jack Detroits - these are what I expected to like the most and they do not disappoint. Love the colours, edge spots and clean edges.
Paulson blank THC solid reds - I have really come to appreciate these more over the week. Really like the feel of these and I think I prefer the more substantial sound over the Jacks
THC chocolate roulettes - similar feel to the reds but I don't like the sound as much, a little too high pitched. Love the hot stamps though
Bud Jones S2 Big Easy - these are the real sleepers of the group. I had seen these posted before and I wasn't crazy about the artwork. I have a sample set of BJ intercontinentals, which I find ok but a little too sticky but these feel much nicer. I think these may actually be my favourite in terms of feel and sound. The artwork has grown on me too.

The singles are interesting but I don't have too much to say.

I just got in a set of Apache's new china clays ("Bank chips") for board games and they will serve their purpose well but this has really got me thinking about getting something nicer for poker - although I was an inconsistent player pre-pandemic so who knows when I'll next get to the table!

Many thanks to @allforcharity!

I'll have them ready to go whenever someone signs up for the Canadian set.

Still waiting on @Rebelwork to send me his address. Will ship them as son as he responds to my PM. If we need to skip him and send to next person let me know I am ready to ship.

@allforcharity , it looks like some chips have been added along the way. Someone put in 5 Classic Poker Chips which is great because these are my favorite chips. I really like Paulsons, but CPC just does it for me. There is also a black $100 that I didn't see in the original picture so I guess the set is growing??

Also, I was wondering if you or someone could explain why these THC greens are different shades of green? The one on the right is darker than the left. Is this typical of Paulsons? Anyways, the chips are great. I've put them in order (least favorite at the bottom, most favorite towards the top) for my favorites upon opening the box and I'll see if that changes after playing with them for a few days.

I think a few things might have been added along the way, voluntarily.

The THC chip that says "PAN" is Christy & Jones. The other one is Paulson. Their colours are (were) not the same.
I've already learned something new. I guess (thought they were Paulson, although it seems Paulson also produced these chips for a period of time after the buyout) I really like the Christy Jones chips. I didn't know anything about them until just now. I have a rabbit hole to go down this evening. Also, the plastic chips are quite superb the more I play with them. Never thought I'd find a plastic chip I like but these are nice.

I have finished with my sample set. Unbelievably the chips I ended up liking the most are the Buds Jones. One commenter stated that they weren't that different from his plastic samples but I've noticed numerous differences. There is no metal slug which is a huge step up. The edges are crisp with no burrs or sharp edges. The edges are identical to a Paulson clay. I'm just in love with these and I am watching a rack on eBay.

I really liked the green Christy Jones chips, but I'm not real fond of the older Paulsons (brown and tan). The Circus Circus and Orleans are superb clay chips like you would expect. The CPC samples are AMAZING and the $100 "Viva Las Vegas" chip is really cool although smaller than the others.

Sadly it seems the 3 blue chips have been removed from the set so I didn't get to check them out.

Thank you to @allforcharity for putting these together and entrusting us with keeping them going. I am ready to send them to whomever is next on the list.
