Fugly Chip Thread (1 Viewer)

You can’t love the mismatched inlays. Surely.
Hey, they're wsop -- the world series of paulson classics. :confused

Wonder if a similar story is behind how those ended up with mismatched inlays, or whether the primary gpi graphic artist is just color blind ("hey, the labels on the both the chip and inlay bins said green").

I thought that they had to get them done quickly with no time to get new inlays approved by the Nevada Gaming Commision so they went with what they had...probably made the worst chips in history so nobody would ever copy them.

This chip pisses me off and leaves me dumbfounded more than any. Probably because I just bought PCAs. All the other secondary PCAs rock. WTF!!

I don't at all mind using inlay color as another point of differentiation.

These inlays are color matched to the base color of a different set. Its just indefensible. Just using random colors would have been better. Playing off of a spot color in each chip would have been much better. A uniform color They ended up with some chips that REALLY clash, the 25 (RIP), 1k, and 25k being the worst.

Really doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I appreciate that they at least went with the same method of designing the inlays. It looks as though they purposefully went a few shades darker than the main chip color. Green to dark green, yellow to a sort of dark yellow/orange, and pink to a pink/purple.

To me it actually makes the image of a splashed pot more diverse and interesting to view. Had the inlays matched perfectly it would have created splashed pots consisting of three neon-esque colors in a bright, blinding mess.

Keep in mind, these are designed to be shown on TV, not someone's living room. In some ways it can be equated to the design of pool ball sets in which TV colors are designed to show up better on a wide variety of screens. Having different colored inlays makes it easier for people watching on TV to determine which chips are being shown. Someone with vision problems who maybe can't separate how many bright pink, bright green, bright yellow chips are in the pot when they are all mixed together may be able to separate the chips due to the darkness of the inlays.

Just a few thoughts on the matter from someone who really likes the new chips.

Yeah they were a knee jerk (quickie) reaction thing. It's not like they didn't have other sets that could have been used in a pinch.

And I wouldn't doubt they had the thought of making them so butt ugly that nobody would copy them, on that note they did a great job, but still made for an awful looking set.

the pineapple face is the worst! Petaluma is more of a Butter & Eggs type of town...no pineapples in this region. Very strange choice for a chip. Is there any good cash games up your way?
Graton’s Deepstack games can be hit or miss. I occasionally host games in Petaluma if you’re ever interested. Have you played at Pete’s in San Rafael?

Thanks kmccormick! - I play the cash games at Pete's every so often never ventured out to the Graton games. I would love to get into your home game if you have room … please let me know when you plan to meet again.

The inlays are identical to the 2007 set, and are color matched to the base chip colors in that set.

They didn't design anything new regarding the inlays for the new set, instead using the old inlays as-is. Only the base chip colors, spots, and mold were changed.

At @kaimat’s request, and for good cause, this is where we post chips that make us scratch our heads, roll our eyes and say “what were they thinking?!?”

Behold, the ugly chip thread.

Please, in the interest of not offending or alienating everyone, no custom chips. Just casinos/card rooms.

Have at it.
Can I post my own lol

The current Linq chips are fugly IMHO....The colors, the fading, etc.!
