Everyone's entitled to their opinion, so I won't bash you. I completely disagree, however, I thought it was a phenomenal episode. No Arya scene can be too long in my opinion, I would watch a show just based on her arc alone. And then you had Sansa confronting Littlefinger, Jorah and Daenerys having some resolution, and even the Ironborn storyline was compelling. Then you had Summer and Hodor going out as heroes in that climactic scene. I think someone must have been cutting onions nearby while I was watching. Hold that door indeed, big man.

Agreed. The Sansa and Theon scenes alone were enough to make it a great episode imo.

Also this guy fucking called it re: Hodor's name back in 2008.

The scene with the play was way too long. Brutal.

My wife and I were cracking up at the play. One of my favorite parts of the episode. Plus it shows A Girl is not ready

It seems more likely you missed the point. The street theater scene was meant to show the tension as Arya endured reliving her family's tragic history as a source of derision. Is she going to snap because she's a Stark or stay true to her path as a girl who has no name? Failing to include scenes like that makes either choice seem flippant.

My favorite episode of the season. When the Littlefinger/Sansa reunion scene is almost an afterthought you know the episode just nailed it.

Interesting note, only Jons and Aryas dire wolfs have survived so far. I wonder if that will help Jon claim winterfell. Most have no idea what the heirs of winterfell actually look like, but most know they have direwolves.

I liked the episode, not a big fan of holddoors name reveal. Seemed a bit silly.

This episode was a big deal to the bookies. Bran's emergence put him into contention with the elite three (all of whom might be Targaryen). As of May 24 the prediction markets call it this way for who will end up sitting on the Iron Throne

Daenerys Targaryen = 28%
Jon Snow = 17%
Bran Stark = 14%
Tyrion Lannister = 10%
Sansa Stark = 6%
thirteen others share the remaining 25%

Sadly they give no chance for the White Walkers to win. Knowing Martin's attitude towards characters, major and minor, there must be some chance for the end to be "everyone dies and the world is conquered by darkness".

The show is actually about 44 minutes long at this point.

They have around 30 episodes left total. Total.

I feel like nothing is really going to happen...

I think Jon Snow re-captures the north and the dragons go pisswild on the undead and probably die in the process but of course save the day, leaving blondie to take a Roman bath with her prettiest knife while Tyrion runs the city, and Arya smokes whatever Lannisters are left and the Stark banner flies.

Fade to black, roll credits.

Common arc to see hero enduring trials and training whether it's Arya, the Dark Knight, Luke Skywalker, or almost any hero all the back to the Epic of Gilgamesh. A bit cliche like sports-themed solid tourney chips, but I think she will move on.

Interesting to see Kevin Eldon as Ned Stark in the play, and Richard E Grant. The latter suggests he has a larger part to play in the narrative. Odd for a relatively big actor to have a bit part.

I thought the episode was strong. I'm still bemused by the tree pixie things. Not sure if I nodded off during the episode those things were explained. I'm with @stocky on the Hold-door reveal shocker. Don't care, bye, move on.

Finally got to see this week's episode - it's weird; I've really enjoyed most episodes, including several that were widely panned, and now here comes one that everyone loves, and I pretty much hated it.

Kingsmoot was presented about as lamely as it possibly could have been:

Maybe if Arya gets her ass kicked by the waif girl just a FEW more times, she will really become No One. Or not, whatever.


OK so Hodor fulfills his destiny - sweet reveal. But now he's dead, and Summer, and the CotF. But for what? So we've got a 15-year-old girl carrying a crippled boy, with no support of any kind, and a 10-minute head start on the Night's King and his army of undead. I guess somehow they're just going to be at the Wall next time we see them??? Sure...


The one scene I really liked was Varys and the Red Priestess - the look on his face was priceless!

Every inch of Baelish's plot arc has been him dealing with contingencies he either positioned himself to benefit from or facilitated on his own.

Basically, if he didn't see this coming down the pike, he's effectively out of contention for the iron throne because his whole schtick is 'this guy is a serious contender because he never, ever screws up, ever.'

As a certified creeper, I openly LOL'd during this scene, but it's even better if she's trolling him and just sent him away with the least conflict possible.

So he'll quest for the cure, find it and sacrifice his life to save Stannis's lil girl. Prolly the fat kid would-be maester assists. Maybe he'll cure cancer too.

It really seemed like he was taken aback that she wouldn't just welcome him with open arms after delivering her to the Boltons, and yeah, Brienne would have had his head off before he could even say a word. The whole concept of the scene just seemed wrong.

I'm open to this potential line of reasoning, but the scene was still peculiar since he should have had more than "I'm so sorry" prepared as a defense.

It's not Sansa's nature, but she should have had Brienne clip his little finger.
