Game of Thrones (HBO Series - NO BOOK SPOILERS) (4 Viewers)

I really enjoyed the episode last night. As opposed to the Aladdin-esque dragon flying scene last week, I felt like many of the reactions were human. "We're likely going to die soon, so let's get wasted and/or get laid". I also liked it when Sam gave Jorah Heartsbane after his father gave Longclaw to Jon. He's been through a lot throughout the series and it was a nice gesture.

I'm not really liking Daenerys so far this season, so I'd be interested to see how the battle plays out next week. On the flipside, it looks like Theon's redemption arc will be complete as he agreed to stay by Bran's side (so it seems like he may go out doing something brave).

All around, really cool episode for me.

Daenerys is done. Her whole persona and life has been built upon a fanatical belief that she is the rightful queen. She's not even that anymore and she didn't take it well.

She's going to go full mad queen and Jamie's going to fulfil his destiny and become the queenslayer.

Ok maybe not, but I still think she's going to die.

The number one most guaranteed death next week is Grey Worm, so give me him and/or Missandei in the death pool. The minute you talk about retiring to the beach, you’re done lol.

Anyway, I really enjoyed last night’s episode. Obviously enjoy the big theatrical moments too, but the show is at its best when it slows down to remind us why we care about these characters in the first place.

Agreed on the points. It was a setup episode but actually a good one. Well besides Arya getting it on :wtf:.

I cannot believe how many people think Aria shouldn't be getting it on, but are OK (hell, think it is cool) that she is a homicidal machine.

Love & Happiness > War
Movies with a thousand people getting butchered get an “R” rating but if a movie has a single scene where they allude to a guy giving a blowjob its given an “X” rating. Americans are sluts when it comes to violence but prudes when it comes to sex/sexuality.

Then there’s the obvious point where everyone still feels like Arya’s a 12 year old a-sexual girl.

That feeling when you’ve just found out you’ve been banging your nephew for months but care more about which one of you gets to sit on some metal chair

This is a common rant for me. We celebrate killing, and do what we can to shut down sexuality. I have my theories as to why this is, but it would be opening the door to political discussions none of us wants to delve into.

Also obvious, she was 12, 8 years ago.

Kids grow up. News flash to all fathers who currently have a 12 year old in house: in 8 years, pot-odds say your baby won't be so innocent anymore. I hate it for you, but there are 12 year old boys out there that will be very happy. It's the circle of life.

As for Danys expression here... she just played 12 hours, was 2nd biggest stack, and on the bubble got it all on the turn in with quad queens vs trip kings... and her face tells you what the river card is.

Question now is does she pack up gracefully and shake hands, or does she go out Phil Hellmuth style?

Dany waits for Jon to win the whole final table and nukes him out of existence with Drogon after Jon gets paid. (possibly taking Rhaegal out at the same time, but collateral damage has hardly ever concerned Targaryens)

Tbf Targaryens usually marry their siblings so it's no big deal to her
Should still be somewhat upsetting if you just found out out of the blue though right? Maybe you can explain her reaction but Jons was just - what my dad lied to me?!? Both of them didn’t even acknowledge that finding out their family mattered except for Ned lied and someone may sit on a chair.

She still looks 11 and when she’s not murdering people she acts like she’s 10. Good example would be Sansa and Dany were (in the show) way younger in their first sex scenes but they didn’t look like preteens and act like everyone’s kid sis so nbd to everyone.

IMO Arya stopped acting like a child the moment she made her first intentional kill (S3 E10). At that age she was supposed to be about 15. Right on the border when, by today's standards, you could be tried either as an adult or a juvenile. By medieval standards, 15 is not an uncommon age to become a mother.

I think the ability to binge-watch the show has skewed how old people really think Arya is. She was just 12 last month! No, that was 8 years ago. By contrast, the less bingable (but still skewed by syndication) Modern Family's Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter) is considered "hot", even though she was just 11 (and younger than Maisie Williams) when the show started.

I'm not saying you're points aren't valid and you're view isn't factually correct... it's just not what most people think/feel and why people got freaked out by the scene.

I suppose the NSFW tag could apply. But the "get a puke bag", I guess I'm just not following...
I don't go for the 1960's goth look, still think of her/Arya as a kid, and I wouldn't put her on the high side of 8 out of 10 but it's personal opinion at that point.

Which is all fine and valid. I was just suggesting that even if that's your personal opinion/preference, "get a puke bag" seemed a little harsh. That's all.

Like that guy in every war movie who shows a picture of his girl to his buddies and says he can’t wait to get back and marry her. Next scene: pfft.

yah it was just in the context of this got thread and the point that many people think of her character and thus her as a child so photo of her in that outfit would be off-putting (i'd hope) to people who have that connection
