Game of Thrones (HBO Series - NO BOOK SPOILERS) (4 Viewers)

I love the curb your enthusiasm moment at the end lol.

Benioff and Weiss are the two biggest morons in television. They proved that when they spoke about zombie polar bears. It was a throwaway scene that they lobbied for years to include. And why? Idiots.

This will go down in history as the worst final season of any show. They've killed the greatest tv show of all time and shat all over the source material.

I'm out. I just want Martin to hurry up and finish the books.

Book spoiler way below FYI :)

I also loved the CUE ending. That show has my favorite music cues of any show followed by the office then it’s always sunny.

I strongly agree they botched the story telling of this show ever since they left the books. That being said I personally still really enjoyed all the seasons despite the absurd changes in speed of critical plot points being developed.

Side note on Brienne - I think they found a good middle ground on her appearance. Book spoiler -Tyrion actually has his nose cut clean off instead of just a badass scar. Don’t think the no nose would have been bearable to watch for 4+ seasons

Also it was brought to my attention (thankfully) that I kept referring to

character’s archs

and not character arcs

My apologies, I’m an idiot and semi illiterate at times. :ROFLMAO:

I think the want Jamie has for Bree is that she is to polar opposite to Cersei. It’s the affection more than physical attraction that draws Jamie to her. Jamie could have anyone but has never had anyone see him more than Kingslayer. Bre sees he is a good man and tells him often, Jamie finally feels loved and wanted, something he has never experienced.

The episode was ok, the first scene was great. The “celebration” started to get a bit meh to me though, I feel it dragged a bit much. I feel like they’re are rushing Danys slip into crazy, I feel like it could’ve been set up a little last season instead of bam now she’s acting crazy.
Yeah she’s turning bad way too quickly for me. Not Anakin to Vader quick, but still way too fast...

How did they have half of their forces left? There was like noone left at the end of last episode. The only people left who survived that battle were the main characters. Half of the dothraki are still alive? Half of the unsullied and northmen? Ok I guess we didnt just see them all get slaughtered the episode before.

Whats up with sansa immediately telling someone about John. Lol Also man those scorpions have improved alot. And yes I think dragon queens slip into madness is happening pretty quickly. I'm ready to see her die. I've had enough of her bullshit one liners about being the queen.

I hate to say it but I'm kinda sick of Tyrion also. Hes like a broken useless old man now. And varys needs to fuck off also. He hasent had any use at all for a long time.

Overall I liked the episode. Cercie is a bad ass bitch still and the iron fleet appears almost unstoppable. Why is everyone so concerned about Danny burning down the Capitol. They have scorpions everywhere and honestly they appear to be the far superior force now. Lol Danny shows up with like 100 unsullied and one dragon hiding in the corner to demand cercies surrender. Like that's going to work. I would have dumped missandei off the wall also. Also they all appeared to be well within range of the scorpions why not just start firing them.

Yes to all of this. Massive drop in quality since the show overtook the books.

Maybe George Martin didn’t know how to finish it and that’s why he stopped writing...

As much as I hate all of the stupid writing, I also can't stand that they've just given up even filming any actual plot at this point.

Its all just intro and fast forward to outcome. I'm tired of everything happening off camera.

Someone on Reddit edited the dragon death sequence, so that Dany saw the fleet, then attacked and lost raegal in the process. It made so much more sense than a fleet spotting a dragon first and then firing off a few worldies that killed it, before missing a direct shot at Drogon with the entire arsenal of scorpions.

Yeah they’re kind of throwing it together. It’s all becoming a bit half arsed. It’s a shame because the first six series were so good.

I feel like they have been slowly pushing her toward crazy though. Last season she had been exhibiting tyrannical behaviors at times.

I'm enjoying this season. Lots of great one liners that are pretty funny. Much more so than past seasons. And I liked the war with the white walkers. Arya killing the night king was pretty great. They're rushing through, sure, but that's what I expected them to do this season. There's a lot to wrap up in short order.

I'm not saying that I havent enjoyed the season, because I have. I knew it would be rushed when they announced that they were going to wrap up the entire series in 6 episodes.

But shit like them having half of their men left, when we clearly just saw them all slaughtered last episode is a bit much. I expected them to spend this episode regrouping and finding new allies. The dawnish, the rest of the iron islands, the 2nd sons etc. I thought maybe a few houses from Westeros may even join the cause after hearing they defeated the dead. This would have been much better than just saying oh yeah we still have like 15k men. I know it appeared they were all killed because in the last episode there was like noone left in the last 20 mins, but actually they are still alive. Oh and yeah were not going to look for any more allies or wait to heal up a little bit, were just heading straight down to battle cercie. I get it, it's a time crunch to come to a conclusion. But still.

All that said I'm a huge fan of the show, and I still cant wait to see what happens. But I am starting to agree that it has gone downhill significantly.

I agree rushing the last two seasons was inevitable but it’s 100% on the show runners IMO because they knew they weren’t going past 8-9 seasons from about 4 seasons ago yet they decided to give time to a bunch of minor plot lines and characters. Some would argue they needed them for the larger plot lines but I think 99% could easily be rewritten to fit it all in more coherently than the last 2 seasons have been (not a high bar). I also think they’ve just succumbed to the masses on wow factors this season (see the Dothraki charge or @Perthmike dragon killing example).

Dany has always been a bit loony but as they pointed out that’s what you get when you walk out of fire with 3 dragons but obviously now with her jealousy of the throne it’s different and I personally don’t think they could have done it sooner. It’s s really tough turn given that she had to seem caring just last season to 1) not attack KL with 3 dragons and win easy & 2) actually care enough about the people / Jon to fly north and risk her claim based on his words (someone she’d never met). Again we’re supposed to believe these were motivated out of caring not madness.

Still enjoy watching it but doesn’t mean I can’t wistfully dream of what could have been.

I knew this season would be disappointing. I have been saying for over a year that they can't wrap this show up the right way in 6 episodes. It isn't possible, but I am shocked at how much they are rushing and how blatantly they are ruining the show in the final season after so many die hard fans committed 8 years of their life to this show.

The quick and pointless death of the Night King and 2nd dragon are so meaningless and unbelievable like they were both after thoughts. The last minute squabbling between John and Danny is totally unnecessary and annoying, they should just rule together and team up.

This random person on youtube came up with a much better final 2 seasons, how can big name writers at HBO screw such a great show up so badly?????????

Wasn't the break between season 7 and 8 almost 2 years? Why and how did they have to rush it. That is what is so mind boggling to me. It is one of the most popular TV shows of all time. Take 2 more full seasons to wrap it up if need be, don't rush out an inferior product for almost no reason.........
