If this has been asked/addressed I apologize. I'm on limited time this morning. My only concern is slipperiness. That Mastuis colorful and vibrant, but holy shit were way to slippery for me. It was impossible to slide a barrel of chips across the table without them toppling over. If anyone knows. How will these compare?

Thanks

I made this high quality short (really short) back in Nov.

Out of all the plastics (Abbiatti, Matsui, BJ, B&G, Gemaco), Abbiatti chips are on the least slippery end of the scale. The plastic material is softer and more rubbery IMO. A few others have said the same too.

I agree with Tommy's assessment. The Abbiatis I've handled are amazing. I have a small stack that I borrowed and they're not slippery at all. Much prefer these over BJ, Matsui and ABC when it comes to shuffle feel, sound and suction.

I'd like to see a stack of 20, pushed across the felt by propelling the bottom of the barrel... Like buying in (or sending your stack)...

Excellent. I'll probably be ordering a 500 chip cash set.

One more thing worth mentioning: they're heavier than other popular ceramics, coming in at 10.4g according to my scale, compared to around 9.5g for ABC or Bud Jones.

Almost casino weight :)

Has there been any conversation about doing a separate order for European members? I'd imagine it'd save money and time on shipping and re-shipping. As long as Abbiati would allow it of course.

No I mean per chip my bad.
The original context of my question to Tommy was :- "Is there a minimum order per person for this GB ?"

And his reply was :- "100 chips"

I assume this to mean you can order whatever quantity per denom as long as your entire chipset has the minimum of 100 chips

Watching....and plotting a bank robbery (ok, not really). But really watching.

I'll be very surprised if there isn't a minimum order per denomination, also.

Interested in the cash set, also noticed that Playground Poker Club in MTL also has Abbiati chips (only on some denoms), see below for a cash game I was playing

The $1, $5, & $1000 chips seem to be Bud Jones V7 and the $25 & $100 chips seem to be Abbiati, never seen a casino/cardroom use two different manufacturer's at the same time for different denom chips, does anyone know anywhere else that does this?

The $1 and $5 chips at Playground have a metal insert as strange as it may seem. I noticed a rack of them was much heavier than the V7 at my local casino so grabbed a magnet from my bag and sure enough, metal. Bit of a thread derail but I though it was strange.

Also, having handled these chips I can say the $25s shuffle and stack incredibly and I'm really tempted to get in on this one.

Yea I noticed that too! Glad you can confirm I wasn’t losing it, I’ve never seen a V7 with a metal insert, would you say you prefer that?

Agreed, the $25 chips felt the best when playing with them for sure, can’t wait until we can start ordering

I’ve never seen a V7 with a metal insert,

Do you mean without? I've never seen a Bud Jones v7 chip without a metal insert. The insert is brass so it's not magnetic. Some B&G and BJ CIC chips (tested Condado Plaza and Europa Casinos chips) also use brass and are not magnetic.

Ahh okay I was confused, they don’t feel too heavy that’s why I didn’t think they had a metal insert in them, I guess the Playground Poker chips use another heavier metal, maybe iron or nickel?

Not sure what's in those Playground $1 and $5 but they definitely reacted to my magnet. Also, they seemed to be constructed differently than V7 but what do I know. Here's a pic of one coming apart. Never saw or felt a V7 like that. They also had a distinct 'clink' vs a V7 clack. You can't normally feel the any seam on V7s normally but your thumb can feel the two distinct pieces of plastic on these.

Hmm thats fascinating, I guess they might not actually be BJ V7's then, maybe a knockoff made to look like them? I do agree they don't feel like traditional Bud Jones's chips, they dont have the suction or that very high quality plastic/rubbery feel that the V7s do, they just feel like heavy chips lol, who do you think made them then if they aren't bud jones? They're definitely not Abbiati's either, maybe Matsui? I think Casino de Montreal uses Matsui's and I can't remember how similar they are to them

Also which casino do you go to that has the V7's? Are you talking about Great Blue Heron in Port Perry? Are there any other casinos in Ontario that use Bud Jones V7's?

Jesus, that's a filthy $1 chip! :vomit:

Interested if we can have a European sub-group buy, shipping-wise (makes no sense to send them across the Pond only to get them back, and get ripped by Customs). It's bad for the Planet, too - quite a lot of jet fuel and emissions.:D
I also wonder if the T1000 could be bright yellow and the T5000 light orange (ie vice versa).

I'm definitely on board for this, if @Tommy is able to get one off the ground. Throwing my hat in the ring to re-ship as well.
