Short story: any good vibes you could send this way for the date above will be greatly appreciated.

Longer story: I thought it would be a good idea to start medical school at nearly 40 years old. I have my first board exam (Step1) on August 21. Needless to say, being an older student sucks and I’m freaking out about passing the exam and being able to continue this path of becoming a physician.

If you are willing to send good vibes this way, I would really appreciate it. If you believe in prayer (your deity of choice), I will happily take prayers. If you think sacrificing a chicken would help, I am reluctantly willing to take that help.

I figure since I have asked for help from everyone else (family, colleagues, etc), some scrub donkey help should put me over the passing line.

Good for you! I’d send vibes your way but I tend to think that superstitions are bad luck.

Joe Bu be with you my friend.

Clear your mind and try to sleep now - good luck tomorrow! Oh and don’t freak out during the test. Once you’re done with a block you are done with the block!

...enjoy tomorrow night

Good luck!!!
Ps- if it means anything to you this give me inspiration to really seek a lifetime career as I've been feeling 'stuck ' for awhile
Hope you pass with flying colors!

Thanks again for all the good vibes. Based on the above comments, it sounds like a few of you have experience with Step 1. Now the hard part: 4 week wait for the results.

Again, thank you all. You all are indeed glorious degenerate scrub donkeys!

Survived the 8 hour test day (7 hours for the 280 questions, 45 minutes for breaks). Now have to wait 4 weeks or so for results.

The current struggle is that I keep looking at the classifieds and thinking “I did a hard thing today, I should treat myself.” But then remind myself that I like to eat food. And the kids like to eat food. And wear clothes. So no “treat yo’ self”. Maybe when results come back...

Congrats on surviving!

:setting an alarm for 4 weeks:

Just saw this. Hope all went well today.

I spent my forties in school, including grad school. I loved it! The perspective we have as almost fully grown people is that our perspective is so different from the young'uns, and in a good way. The downside is that I didn't have the energy that I had when I was 20.

Sometimes it feels a little weird when your instructor is younger than you, but only momentarily -- my weirdness extends way beyond that.

Good luck!
